Overview
RDS 5 #L1000φ 10 is a wire-wound Applicator rod developed and produced by RDS, an American company with a history of more than 80 years. The product uses the classic wire-wound rod ("Mayer" rod) process to form a Measurement gap on the mandrel through precision-wound stainless steel wire, which is used to prepare accurate and uniform wet-film coating on a variety of substrates. Its specifications are steel wire diameter φ 0.13mm (corresponding to No. 5 rod), main rod diameter φ 10mm, total length 1000mm, effective application width 900mm, suitable for a wide range of Spreader applications.
Features
1. Originating from the American RDS brand, it has more than 80 years of professional R & D and production history of Spreader Metering rods.
2. Using the classic wire winding rod ("Mayer" rod) design, the Spreader method is simple, accurate, uniform and economical.
3. Can quickly change the coating weight, film thickness range, wide range of applicable substrates, flexibility.
4. Wire winding rod design supports disbonding and re-winding, which helps to save costs and reduce waste.
5. Provide customization services, which can be customized according to specific application requirements.
6. The mandrel is made of stainless steel 303 and has a chrome-plated surface to enhance durability.
Principle
The working principle of this wire-wound Applicator rod is based on the Mayer rod coating method. As the coating flows through the stainless steel wire that is precisely wound on the mandrel, the gaps (cavities) between the wires determine the wet film thickness transferred to the substrate. To operate, excess coating is applied to the substrate, and then the coating surface is scraped with a Metering rod to scrape away excess coating, leaving a uniform wet-film layer precisely controlled by the wire gap size.
Applications
Coating, window film, adhesive tape, release paper, photovoltaic film, wall covering material, special paper
Standards
The data did not mention specific compliance criteria.
Steps
1. Select the appropriate Metering rod model (e.g. 5 #) according to the desired wet film thickness (e.g. 12.7μm).
2. Install the Metering rod on the Spreader device or handheld fixture to ensure a stable installation.
3. Apply a sufficient amount of Coating to the surface of the substrate to be Spreader.
4. Use a Metering rod to scrape the Coating surface at uniform speed and pressure to remove excess Coating.
5. After completing the Spreader, clean up the residual Coating on the Metering rod in time for the next use.
Notice
* Before use, please confirm that the Metering rod model (e.g. wire diameter, rod diameter) matches the required wet film thickness.
* Maintain uniform scraping speed and pressure during operation to ensure consistent Coating thickness.
* Thorough cleaning should be carried out immediately after use to prevent coating from clogging in the wire gap.
* Use suitable solvents and soft tools when cleaning to avoid damage to the steel wire or chrome surface.
* The wire winding rod can be disbonded and rewound to extend the service life, but it needs to be operated by professionals to ensure accuracy.
* Metering rods should be properly placed during storage to avoid deformation due to collision or bending.
For special applications or customization requirements, it is recommended to consult professional channels to confirm specifications.
