Overview
RDS 6 #L1000φ 10 wire-wound Applicator rod is a wire-wound Spreader Metering rod produced by RDS in the United States. RDS has more than 80 years of experience in R & D and production of coating rods. Its products are known for the simplicity, accuracy, uniformity and economy of Spreader, which is one of the most popular film methods. This model uses a winding process and is suitable for a variety of substrates. It can quickly change the coating weight and achieve a wide range of film thickness control.
Features
1. Derived from the American RDS brand with a history of more than 80 years, with reliable quality.
2. Adopt the classic "Mayer" wire winding rod design, which is widely used and popular.
3. Wire winding rods can be disbonded and rewound, helping to save costs and reduce waste.
4. More than 70 wire sizes are available to meet the thickness requirements of different Spreaders.
5. The mandrel is made of stainless steel 303, with chrome plating on the surface for good durability.
6. Support custom service, up to 12 feet, to adapt to specific application requirements.
Principle
The Working Principle of the RDS Wire Winding Applicator rod is based on the "Mayer" rod coating method. When the coating flows through the precision wire wound on the mandrel, the gap (cavity) between the wires determines the thickness of the wet coating. The rod body rolls or scrapes on the surface of the substrate to scrape off the excess coating, leaving a uniform wet-film whose thickness is determined by the diameter of the wire (i.e. rod number). This method quickly adjusts the coating weight and film thickness by changing the diameter of the wire.
Applications
Coating, window film, adhesive tape, release paper, photovoltaic film, wall covering material, special paper
Standards
The data did not mention specific compliance criteria.
Steps
1. Select the appropriate rod number (such as 6 #) according to the desired wet film thickness (such as 15.2 μm).
2. Confirm whether the coating rod specifications (such as total length 1000mm, effective width 900mm) meet the equipment requirements.
3. Install the coating rod correctly on the Spreader device or handheld fixture.
4. Coating evenly flows through or distributes on the substrate in front of the coating rod.
5. At a stable speed and pressure, the coating rod is scraped through the coating to form a uniform wet-film.
6. Clean up in time after use to prevent Coating from drying up and blocking the wire winding gap.
Notice
* Coating thickness of the wire winding rod is determined by the diameter of the wire (rod number), and the required wet film thickness should be specified when selecting the type.
* After use, it is necessary to clean thoroughly in time, especially the steel wire gap, to prevent the residual blockage of Coating from affecting the next use effect.
* Although the winding rod can be re-wound, caution is required to maintain winding uniformity and accuracy.
Avoid using hard objects or sharp tools to scrape the surface of the rod body to prevent damage to the chrome plating or steel wire.
* When storing, it should be placed in a drying environment to avoid bumping to maintain its geometric accuracy and surface condition.
