Overview
The RDS 8 #L1000φ 10 wire-wound Applicator rod is a wire-wound Metering rod that belongs to the classic "Mayer" rod type. It uses a stainless steel 303 mandrel with a chrome-plated surface, a wire diameter of φ 0.20mm, and can be prepared for a wet film thickness of about 20.3μm. The total length of the rod is 1000mm, and the effective application width is 900mm. It is suitable for Spreader processes in a variety of industries.
Features
1. Derived from the American RDS brand with a history of more than 80 years, with reliable quality.
2. Adopting the classic wire-wound (Mayer rod) design, it is widely used and mature.
3. The mandrel is made of stainless steel 303 and has a chrome-plated surface to enhance durability.
4. Steel wire can be disbonded and rewound, which helps to save costs and reduce waste.
5. Provide a clear wet film thickness (20.3μm) and accurate geometry (such as wire diameter φ 0.20mm).
6. Accept customization, and can be selected according to specific requirements.
Principle
The Working Principle of the Wire-Wrapped Applicator rod is based on the grooves formed by the winding of the steel wire on the mandrel. When Coating is applied and passes through the Metering rod, the voids between the wires determine the thickness of the coating. Excess Coating is scraped off by the wire, leaving a uniform, thickness-controlled wet-film coating on the substrate.
Applications
Coating, window film, adhesive tape, release paper, photovoltaic film, wall covering material, special paper
Standards
The data did not mention specific compliance criteria.
Steps
1. According to the Spreader process requirements, select the appropriate Metering rod model (such as RDS 8 #).
2. Install the Metering rod correctly on the Spreader device.
3. Coating is applied so that the Metering rod is evenly scraped on the surface of the substrate.
4. After finishing the Spreader, clean the Metering rod as required.
5. For wire winding rods, the wire can be disbonded and rewound as needed to achieve repeability.
Notice
• Before use, please confirm whether the Metering rod model and specifications (such as wet film thickness and size) meet the process requirements.
• When installing, ensure that the Metering rod is stable and level to ensure the uniformity of the Spreader.
• After the Spreader is completed, the rod body should be cleaned promptly and thoroughly to prevent Coating residues from clogging the wire gap.
• The winding rod can be re-wound, but care should be taken to maintain the uniformity of the winding.
• For high viscosity coatings, consider using more suitable types such as notched rods or double-wound rods to reduce clogging.
• When storing, it should be properly placed to avoid bumping and damaging the rod body or steel wire.
