Overview
RDS 14 #L1000φ 10 is a wire-wound Applicator rod, which belongs to the type of wire-wound Metering rod. As a professional manufacturer of Spreader Metering rod in the United States with more than 80 years of history, RDS's products are based on the Mayer rod coating method, which is known for its simplicity, accuracy, uniformity and economy. It can quickly adjust the coating weight and achieve a wide range of film thicknesses. It is suitable for a wide range of substrates. This model is a wire-wound design with a total length of 1000mm and an effective application width of 900mm. It is suitable for a variety of Spreader applications.
Features
1. Derived from the American professional brand RDS with a history of more than 80 years, the quality is reliable.
2. Adopting the classic "Mayer" wire winding rod design, the technology is mature and widely used.
3. Wire winding rods can be disbonded and rewound, helping to save costs and reduce waste.
4. Provide a variety of specifications to choose from, the main rod diameter 10mm, wire diameter 0.36mm, wet film thickness 35.6μm.
5. The mandrel is made of stainless steel 303, with chrome plating on the surface, taking into account strength and corrosion resistance.
6. No minimum booking limit, no installation cost, flexible use.
7. Support for submitting specific requirements through customized tools to meet personalized applications.
Principle
The RDS wire-wound Applicator rod works based on the Mayer rod coating principle. As the Coating flows through a rod body with stainless steel wire wrapped around it, the gaps (cavities) between the wires determine the final thickness of the coating. Excess Coating is scraped off by the wire, resulting in a uniform, thickness-controlled wet-film on the substrate. This model controls a wet film thickness of approximately 35.6 μm with a specific diameter of wire (φ 0.36mm).
Applications
Coating, window film, adhesive tape, release paper, photovoltaic film, wall covering material, special paper

Steps
1. According to the process requirements of Spreader, choose the appropriate Metering rod model (such as RDS 14 #L1000φ 10).
2. Install the Metering rod correctly on the Spreader device to ensure that the two ends are firmly clamped.
3. Adjust the pressure or tension between the Metering rod and the support roller or substrate to control the Coating thickness.
4. Start the Spreader device so that the Coating flows evenly through the Metering rod.
5. After completing the Spreader, clean the Metering rod in time to prevent Coating from clogging the wire gap.
Notice
• Before use, please confirm whether the model and specifications (such as wire diameter, wet film thickness) of the Metering rod meet the current Spreader process requirements.
• When installing, ensure that both ends of the Metering rod are firmly clamped to avoid displacement or vibration during the Spreader process.
• Spreader process, according to Coating viscosity and required film thickness, reasonable adjustment of bar pressure or substrate tension.
• Metering rod should be cleaned promptly and thoroughly after use, especially the steel wire gap, to prevent residual Coating curing from causing blockage and affecting the next use effect.
• Although the wire winding rod can be re-wound, the operation needs to be cautious, and it is recommended to be carried out by professionals or according to specifications to maintain its Measurement accuracy.
• Avoid using hard objects or sharp tools to scrape the surface of the rod body, especially the chrome plating layer, to prolong the service life of the product.
