Overview
RDS 20 #L1000φ 10 wire-wound Applicator rod is a wire-wound Metering rod under the RDS brand. RDS is an American professional Spreader Metering rod R & D and production enterprise with a history of more than 80 years, and its products are widely recognized around the world. Based on the classic "Mayer rod" principle, this model Applicator rod realizes Spreader Measurement through a precise wire-wound structure. It has the characteristics of simple operation, uniform Spreader, and cost economy. It is suitable for Spreader processes on a variety of substrates.
Features
1. Classic wire winding design: using the original "Mayer" rod structure, the technology is mature and reliable.
2. Precise specifications: Model 20 #corresponds to a wire diameter of 0.51mm (about 20 mils), and the wet film thickness can reach 50.8μm.
3. Excellent material: The mandrel is made of stainless steel 303, and the surface is chrome-plated, taking into account strength and corrosion resistance.
4. Flexible size: the total length is 1000mm, the effective application width is 900mm, and the clamping length of 50mm is reserved at both ends, which is convenient for installation and operation.
5, repeability: Wire winding rod structure supports disbonding and re-winding, which helps to save costs and reduce waste.
6. Wide range of applications: suitable for precise control of wet film thickness in a variety of industries.
Principle
The working principle of the RDS wire-wound Applicator rod is based on the Mayer Rod (Mayer Rod) Spreader method. Its core is to tightly wrap a stainless steel wire of a specific diameter on a smooth metal mandrel. When the substrate containing excess Coating passes through the Metering rod, the wound steel wire scrapes off the excess Coating, leaving only the amount of Coating that can be accommodated by the grooves between the wires, thereby forming a layer of wet-film with uniform thickness and precise and controllable thickness on the substrate. The wet film thickness is mainly determined by the diameter of the wrapped steel wire.
Applications
Coating, window film, adhesive tape, release paper, photovoltaic film, wall covering material, special paper
Standards
The data did not mention specific compliance criteria.
Steps
1. According to the Spreader process requirements, select the appropriate RDS Metering rod model (such as 20 #corresponding to the required wet film thickness).
2. Install the Metering rod correctly on the Spreader device to ensure that both ends are firmly clamped and the effective Spreader area is aligned with the substrate.
3. Start the Spreader device so that the substrate with excess Coating passes smoothly under the Metering rod.
4. Metering rod scraping excess Coating, forming a uniform wet-film on the surface of the substrate.
5. After the Spreader is completed, clean the Metering rod in time to prevent the Coating from drying up and blocking the wire winding gap.
Notice
* Thoroughly clean the rod body before and after use, especially the gap between the wire-wounds, to prevent residual Coating curing from affecting the next Spreader effect.
Avoid bumping during operation and storage to prevent damage to steel wire windings or chrome-plated surfaces.
* According to the characteristics of Coating viscosity, Solid content, etc., choose the appropriate Metering rod type (such as high viscosity Coating can consider notched rod or double wound rod).
* The rod is a wire-wound type, after abrasion, the old wire can be disbonded and re-wound with new wire to prolong the service life of the main rod.
* When customizing or selecting, it is necessary to clarify the key parameters such as wet film thickness, application width, and rod diameter.
