Overview
RDS 24 #L1000φ 10 is a wire-wound Applicator rod, a wire-wound Metering rod product under the RDS brand. RDS is an American company with more than 80 years of experience in R & D and production of Spreader Metering rods. Its products are one of the most popular film methods because of their simplicity, accuracy, uniformity and cost performance. This model is suitable for a variety of substrates and can quickly change coating weight and achieve a wide range of film thicknesses.
Features
1. Originating from the American RDS brand, with more than 80 years of professional production experience.
2. Adopt the classic "Mayer" wire winding rod design, which is widely used.
3. The model specification is No. 24, the corresponding steel wire diameter is 0.61mm (24 mils), and the wet film thickness is about 61μm.
4. The diameter of the main rod is 10mm, the total length is 1000mm, and the effective application width is 900mm.
5. The mandrel is made of stainless steel 303, and the surface is chrome-plated to enhance durability.
6. Wire winding rod design allows for disbonding and re-winding, helping to save costs and reduce waste.
Principle
The RDS wire-wound Applicator rod works based on the Mayer rod coating principle. A series of uniform cavities are formed between the wires by tightly wrapping a specific diameter stainless steel wire over a smooth stainless steel mandrel. As the rod body rolls or scrapes over the Spreader substrate, these cavities determine the amount of Coating that is retained and transferred to the substrate, resulting in precise control of the thickness of the wet-film. The wire-wound rod is calibrated by the wire diameter (in mils), which directly corresponds to the available Coating thickness.
Applications
Coating, window film, adhesive tape, release paper, photovoltaic film, wall covering material, special paper
Steps
1. Select the appropriate Metering rod model according to the desired wet film thickness (e.g. 24 #corresponds to about 61μm).
2. Install the Metering rod correctly on the Spreader device to ensure that the two ends are firmly clamped.
3. Place the Coating of the Spreader in front of the rod body.
4. Spreader by rolling or scraping the Metering rod on the surface of the substrate at a uniform speed and pressure.
5. After the Spreader is completed, clean the rod body in time to prevent the Coating from drying up and blocking the wire winding gap.
Notice
* Please confirm that the Metering rod model matches the required Spreader thickness before use.
* Maintain uniform force and traverse speed during operation to ensure coating uniformity.
* Spreader should be thoroughly cleaned immediately after completion, especially the wire winding gap, to prevent clogging caused by Coating curing.
* Use appropriate solvents and soft tools when cleaning to avoid damage to wire windings or chrome-plated surfaces.
* Metering rods should be properly placed during storage to avoid deformation due to collision or heavy pressure.
* The wire winding rod can be disbonded and rewound to extend the service life, but it needs to be operated by professionals to ensure accuracy.
