Overview
RDS 28 #L1000φ 10 wire-wound Applicator rod is a wire-wound Metering rod produced by RDS Corporation in the United States. RDS has more than 80 years of experience in R & D and production of coating rods. Its products are based on the Mayer rod coating method, which is popular for its simple operation, accurate and uniform Spreader, and cost-effective. This model is suitable for a variety of substrates and can quickly adjust the coating weight and film thickness to meet a wide range of industrial Spreader needs.
Features
1. Originating from the American RDS brand, with more than 80 years of professional production experience.
2. Adopting the classic "Mayer" wire winding rod design, it is widely used and mature and reliable.
3. The wet film thickness is accurate and can reach 71.1 μm.
4. The mandrel is made of stainless steel 303 with chrome plating on the surface, which has good durability and corrosion resistance.
5. Total length 1000mm, effective application width of 900mm, suitable for wide format Spreader operation.
6. Can be customized according to specific needs, with strong flexibility.
Principle
The Working Principle of the RDS wire-wound Applicator rod is based on the Mayer rod coating method. At its core, a stainless steel wire of a specific diameter is tightly wound on the stainless steel main rod. As the coating flows through the rod body, the groove (cavity) formed between the wound wire and the main rod determines the final thickness of the coating. The excess coating is scraped off by the wire, resulting in a uniform, thickness-controlled wet-film on the surface of the main rod. By changing the diameter of the wire (i.e. rod number), the wet film thickness of the Spreader can be precisely controlled.
Applications
Coating, window film, adhesive tape, release paper, photovoltaic film, wall covering material, special paper
Standards
The data did not mention specific compliance criteria.
Steps
Select the appropriate rod number (e.g. 28 #) according to the desired wet film thickness (e.g. 71.1 μm).
2. Install the Metering rod correctly on the Spreader device to ensure that the two ends are firmly clamped.
3. Adjust the pressure or tension between the Metering rod and the support roller or substrate to control the Coating thickness (for types such as smooth rods).
4. Start the Spreader device so that the Coating flows evenly through the surface of the Metering rod.
5. After completing the Spreader, clean the rod body in time to prevent Coating from clogging the groove.
Notice
• Wire winding rods can be disbonded and rewound to save costs, but attention should be paid to operation professionalism.
• After use, it should be cleaned thoroughly in time to prevent the residual Coating from drying up and blocking the gap between the wires, which will affect the effect of the next use.
• When operating, select the appropriate Metering rod type (such as wire wound rod, notched rod or double wound rod) according to the Coating viscosity.
• Avoid bumping or improper force on the rod body to prevent deformation of the wire or damage to the surface platings.
• For specific application requirements, it is recommended to submit customized requirements through official channels to obtain professional selection suggestions.
