Overview
RDS 29 #L1000φ 10 wire-wound Applicator rod is a wire-wound Metering rod produced by RDS in the United States. RDS has more than 80 years of experience in the development and production of Spreader Metering rod. Its products are based on the Mayer rod coating method and have the characteristics of simple, accurate, uniform and cost-effective Spreader, which is suitable for a variety of substrates and a wide range of film thickness requirements.
Features
1. Derived from the American RDS brand with a history of more than 80 years, the technology is mature and reliable.
2. Adopt the classic "Mayer" wire winding rod design, which is widely used and popular.
3. The model is 29 #, the corresponding wire diameter is 0.74mm (29 mils), and the wet film thickness is about 73.7μm.
4. The diameter of the main rod is 10mm, the total length is 1000mm, the effective application width is 900mm, and the clamping length of 50mm is reserved at both ends.
5. The mandrel is made of stainless steel 303, and the surface is chrome-plated to take into account strength and corrosion resistance.
6. Wire winding rod design allows for disbonding and re-winding, helping to save costs and reduce waste.
Principle
The product is a wire-wound Metering rod and its Working Principle is based on the Mayer rod coating method. By tightly wrapping wire of a specific diameter on a smooth stainless steel mandrel, the gaps (cavities) between the wires determine the wet film thickness of the Spreader to the substrate. When Spreader, excess Coating is scraped off by the wire, and the Coating retained in the gap is transferred to the substrate surface, resulting in a uniform, thickness-controlled coating.
Applications
Coating, window film, adhesive tape, release paper, photovoltaic film, wall covering material, special paper
Standards
The data did not mention specific compliance criteria.
Steps
1. According to the Spreader process requirements, select the appropriate Metering rod model (such as wet film thickness, width, etc.).
2. Install the Metering rod correctly on the Spreader device to ensure stable installation.
3. Coating is applied to the substrate or Spreader roll in front of the Metering rod.
4. Pass the substrate under the Metering rod at a suitable speed, and the Metering rod will scrape off excess Coating to form a uniform wet-film.
5. After the Spreader is completed, clean the Metering rod in time to prevent the Coating from drying up and blocking the steel wire gap.
Notice
• Before use, make sure that the Metering rod model (e.g. 29 #) matches the desired wet film thickness (approximately 73.7μm).
• Pay attention to protect the surface of the Metering rod during installation to avoid bumping and damaging the steel wire or chrome plating.
• Spreader should be cleaned immediately after operation to keep the wire gap unobstructed for next use.
• The wire winding rod can be disbonded and rewound, but professional operation is required to maintain the uniformity of winding.
• This product is a customized tool, and the specific selection and use need to be combined with its own process conditions.
