Overview
RDS 38 #L1000φ 10 wire-wound Applicator rod is a wire-wound Spreader Metering rod produced by RDS in the United States. RDS has more than 80 years of experience in R & D and production of coating rods. Its products are simple, accurate, uniform and economical, making it one of the most popular film methods. This type of rod body is suitable for quick adjustment of coating weight and a wide range of film thickness, with strong flexibility and wide range of substrates.
Features
1. Derived from the American RDS brand with a history of more than 80 years, with reliable quality.
2. Adopting the classic "Mayer" wire winding rod design, the technology is mature and widely used.
3. The wet film thickness is 96.5 μm, and the coating control is accurate and uniform.
4. The mandrel is made of stainless steel 303 and has a chrome-plated surface for good durability.
5. The total length is 1000mm, the effective application width is 900mm, and the clamping length of 50mm is reserved at both ends for easy installation and operation.
6. Wire winding rod design supports disbonding and re-winding, which helps to save costs and reduce waste.
7. Can be customized according to specific needs.
Principle
The Working Principle of the RDS Wirewound Applicator rod is based on the classic "Mayer" rod coating method. At its core is a tightly wound wire of a specific diameter (φ 0.97mm) on a stainless steel main rod. As the coating flows through the rod body, the regular cavity formed between the wound wire and the main rod determines the thickness of the wet coating (96.5 μm here). The excess coating is scraped off by the wire, resulting in a uniform, thickness-controlled coating on the substrate.
Applications
Coating, window film, adhesive tape, release paper, photovoltaic film, wall covering material, special paper
Standards
The data did not mention specific compliance criteria.
Steps
1. According to the process requirements of Spreader, choose the appropriate RDS Metering rod model (such as RDS 38 #L1000φ 10).
2. Install the Metering rod correctly on the Spreader device to ensure that the two ends are firmly clamped.
3. Adjust the pressure of the Metering rod relative to the support roller or the tension of the substrate to control the Coating thickness.
4. Start the Spreader device so that the Coating flows evenly through the Metering rod.
5. After completing the Spreader, clean the rod body in time to prevent Coating from blocking the wire winding gap.
6. For wire winding rods, the wire can be disbonded and re-wound when necessary to utilize the repeability.
Notice
• Before use, please confirm whether the model and specifications (e.g. wet film thickness, effective width) of the Metering rod meet the current Spreader process requirements.
• When installing, ensure that the rod body is level and firmly clamped to avoid uneven coating due to improper installation.
• Pay attention to adjusting the pressure or tension during operation to obtain the target Coating thickness.
• After the Spreader is completed, the rod body should be cleaned promptly and thoroughly, especially the wire winding gap, to prevent Coating curing blockage and affect the next use effect and rod life.
• Although the wire winding rod can be re-wound to save costs, caution is required to avoid damaging the rod body or affecting the winding accuracy.
• For high viscosity coatings, special models such as double-wound rods or notched rods can be considered to reduce clogging.
• It is recommended to submit custom requirements through the NBchao Metering rod customization tool according to the actual application situation to obtain the most matching solution.
