Overview
RDS 44 #L1000φ 10 is a wide-wound Applicator rod manufactured by RDS Corporation in the United States with more than 80 years of experience in R & D and production of Spreader Metering rods. Based on the classic "Mayer rod" principle, the product uses the wide-wound process and is suitable for Spreaders on a variety of substrates. It has the characteristics of simple operation, uniform coating, cost economy, and can quickly adjust coating weight and film thickness.
Features
The brand has a long history, dating back to 1936, and its technology is mature and reliable.
2. Adopting a wide-wound design, it is a classic "Mayer stick" type and is widely used.
3. Coating thickness is determined by the diameter of the steel wire, and the wet film thickness of this model is 111.8 μm.
4. The mandrel is made of stainless steel 303, with a chrome-plated surface for good durability.
5. The total length is 1000mm, the effective application width is 900mm, and the clamping length of 50mm is reserved at both ends for easy operation.
6. Can be customized according to specific needs.
Principle
The working principle of this wire-wound Applicator rod is based on the Metering rod Spreader method. When the coating flows through the stainless steel wire tightly wound on the mandrel (the diameter of the wire of this model is φ 1.12mm), the gap (cavity) between the wires determines the amount of coating transferred to the substrate, thereby controlling the thickness of the wet-film. Through the scraping operation, the excess coating is scraped off, leaving a uniform, predetermined thickness of coating.
Applications
Coating, window film, adhesive tape, release paper, photovoltaic film, wall covering material, special paper
Standards
The data did not mention specific compliance criteria.
Steps
1. According to the Spreader process requirements, select the appropriate wire-wound Applicator rod model (such as RDS 44 #).
2. Install the Applicator rod to the Spreader device to ensure that both ends are firmly clamped.
3. Place the substrate to be Spreader flat.
4. Coating the appropriate amount on the substrate in front of the Applicator rod.
5. Push or pull the Applicator rod at a uniform speed and appropriate pressure to form a uniform coating through the wire gap.
6. After completing the Spreader, clean the Applicator rod in time.
Notice
• Before use, please confirm whether the Applicator rod model (such as wire diameter, rod diameter, length) meets the wet film thickness and application width required by the process.
• Maintain uniform scraping speed and pressure during operation to ensure coating conformity.
• After use, the rod body should be thoroughly cleaned in time, especially the steel wire gap, to prevent Coating curing blockage and affect the next use effect and rod life.
• Avoid using sharp or hard tools to scrape the surface of the rod body, especially the chrome layer, to prevent damage.
• Applicator rods should be stored in a drying, clean environment to avoid collisions and heavy pressure.
