Overview
RDS 48 #L1000φ 10 wire-wound Applicator rod is a wire-wound Spreader Metering rod produced by RDS in the United States. RDS has more than 80 years of experience in R & D and production of coating rods. Its products are simple, accurate, uniform and economical, making them one of the most popular film methods. This model is suitable for Spreader processes that require precise control of wet film thickness. It has the flexibility to quickly change coating weight and a wide range of film thickness. It is suitable for a wide range of substrates.
Features
1. Originating from the American RDS brand, with more than 80 years of professional production experience, the quality is reliable.
2. Adopting the classic "Mayer" wire winding rod design, the technology is mature and widely used.
3. Accurate wet film thickness, up to 121.9μm, to meet specific Spreader requirements.
4. The mandrel is made of stainless steel 303 with a chrome-plated surface, making it durable and easy to clean.
5. Provide customized services, allowing for specification selection and quotation according to specific needs.
Principle
The RDS wire-wound Applicator rod works on the principle of the Mayer rod coating method. At its core, a stainless steel wire of a specific diameter is tightly wound on a stainless steel mandrel. As the coating flows through the rod body, the groove (cavity) formed between the wound wire and the mandrel determines the amount of coating transferred to the substrate, thus precisely controlling the thickness of the wet-film. Excess coating is scraped off, leaving a uniform coating.
Applications
Coating, window film, adhesive tape, release paper, photovoltaic film, wall covering material, special paper
Steps
1. According to the Spreader process requirements, select the appropriate RDS coating rod model (such as wire winding rod, molding rod, etc.).
2. Install the coating rod correctly on the Spreader equipment to ensure that the clamping is stable.
3. Adjust the pressure of the coating rod relative to the support roller or the tension of the substrate to control the Coating thickness (for types such as smooth rods).
4. Start the Spreader device so that the Coating flows evenly through the surface of the coating rod.
5. After completing the Spreader, clean the coating rod in time to prevent Coating from clogging the groove.
Notice
* Wire winding rods can be disbonded and rewound to save costs and reduce waste.
* For high viscosity coatings, consider using notched rods or double-wound rods to reduce clogging and eliminate lines.
* Select the appropriate Metering rod type according to the Coating characteristics (such as viscosity) during operation.
After use, it should be cleaned promptly, especially the steel wire gap of the wire winding rod, to prevent dryness and blockage.
* Smooth rods can be ground to meet different surface finish requirements, and hard chrome plating can significantly extend the service life.
