Overview
The RDS 55 #L1000φ 10 wire-wound Applicator rod is a wire-wound Spreader Metering rod produced by RDS Corporation (founded in 1936) in the United States. The product is based on the classic "Mayer rod" Spreader method and is characterized by simple operation, accurate Spreader, uniform and economical. It is suitable for a wide range of substrates by changing the coating weight and film thickness, providing solutions for Spreader processes in a variety of industries.
Features
1. From RDS, a professional coating rod manufacturer with more than 80 years of history.
2. Adopt the classic wire winding rod (Mayer rod) design, with a wide range of models and specifications.
3. The wet film thickness is accurate, up to 125.7μm.
4. The mandrel is made of stainless steel 303 and has a chrome-plated surface for good durability.
5. The effective application width is 900mm and the total length is 1000mm, which is suitable for wider format Spreader needs.
6. Wire winding rod design can be disbonded and re-wound, which helps to save costs and reduce waste.
7. Can be customized according to specific needs.
Principle
The Working Principle of this wire-wound Applicator rod is based on the Mayer rod Spreader method. The stainless steel wire is tightly wound around the mandrel at a precise diameter (φ 1.4mm), and the voids between the wires form the Measurement Cavity. As the Coating flows through the rod body, excess Coating is scraped off by the wire. The amount of Coating retained in the voids determines the wet film thickness (125.7μm) transferred to the substrate, resulting in a uniform, controllable Spreader.
Applications
Coating, window film, adhesive tape, release paper, photovoltaic film, wall covering material, special paper
Standards
The data did not mention specific compliance criteria.
Steps
1. According to the Spreader process requirements, select the appropriate RDS wire-wound Applicator rod model (such as RDS 55 #L1000φ 10).
2. Apply the Applicator rod correctly to the Spreader device to ensure that both ends are firmly clamped.
3. Adjust the pressure of the coating rod relative to the support roller or the tension of the substrate to control the Coating thickness.
4. Start the equipment so that the Coating flows evenly through the coating rod for Spreader.
5. After the Spreader is completed, clean the rod body in time to prevent Coating from clogging the wire gap.
Notice
* The rod body should be cleaned in time after use to prevent Coating from curing blockage in the steel wire gap.
* When installing, ensure that the rod body is level and the clamping is stable to ensure the uniformity of the Spreader.
* Depending on characteristics such as Coating viscosity, it may be necessary to choose a Miscellaneous type of Metering rod (e.g. molded rod, notched rod, double wound rod).
* Wire winding rod can be disbonded and rewound, but the operation needs to be careful to maintain accuracy.
The chrome plating on the surface can extend the lifespan, but it is still necessary to avoid scratching with hard objects.
