Overview
RDS 3 #L2000φ 10 is a wire-wound Applicator rod produced by RDS Company in the United States, which belongs to the classic "Mayer" rod type. The product adopts the wire-wound production process, the mandrel is made of stainless steel 303, the surface is chrome plated, the total length is 2000mm, and the effective application width is 1900mm. It is suitable for Spreader applications in various industries.
Features
1. From the American RDS brand with more than 80 years of experience in R & D and production of coating rods.
2. Adopting the classic Mayer rod design, it has a long history and is widely used.
3. Wire winding rods can be disbonded and rewound, helping to save costs and reduce waste.
4. We offer more than 70 sizes of stainless steel wire and 15 different diameters of multi-grade stainless steel rods, with a wide range of options.
5. Accept customization up to 12 feet to meet specific needs.
Principle
The working principle of the wire-wound Applicator rod is based on the Mayer rod coating method. When the coating flows through a cavity of a specific size formed by the wire wound on the mandrel, the excess coating is scraped off by the wire, leaving a uniform, thickness-controlled wet-film on the substrate. The wet film thickness is mainly determined by the diameter of the wire.
Applications
Coating, window film, adhesive tape, release paper, photovoltaic film, wall covering material, special paper
Steps
1. Select the appropriate Metering rod model (e.g. 3 #) according to the desired wet film thickness (e.g. 7.6μm).
2. Install the Metering rod correctly on the Spreader device to ensure that it is stable and fixed.
3. Coating is evenly applied to the substrate or Spreader roller in front of the Metering rod.
4. Start the equipment so that the substrate passes under the Metering rod at a uniform speed, and the Metering rod scrapes off excess Coating to form a uniform coating.
5. After the Spreader is completed, clean the Metering rod in time to prevent the Coating from drying up and blocking.
Notice
• After use, the rod body should be thoroughly cleaned in time, especially the cavity between the wires, to prevent Coating curing blockage and affect the next Spreader effect.
• Avoid bumping or bending during operation and storage to prevent damage to the delicate winding structure.
• Select the appropriate type of Metering rod (e.g. wire winding rod, molding rod, etc.) according to the Coating viscosity and characteristics (e.g. easy to clog).
• This wire winding rod can be disbonded and rewound, but requires professional operation to maintain accuracy.
• For high viscosity coatings, consider using double-wound or notched rods to reduce the risk of clogging.
