Overview
RDS 6 #L2000φ 10 wire-wound Applicator rod is a wire-wound Metering rod, which belongs to the classic "Mayer" rod type. It uses stainless steel 303 mandrel, chrome-plated surface, total length 2000mm, effective application width 1900mm, steel wire diameter is φ 0.15mm (corresponding to No. 6 specification), suitable for preparing about 15.2 μm wet film thickness. RDS, as a professional coating rod manufacturer with more than 80 years of history, its products are favored in Spreader process in a variety of industries for their simplicity, accuracy, uniformity and economy.
Features
1. Classic Wire Winding Design: Using the original "Mayer" rod winding process, it has a long history and is widely used.
2. Precise specifications: The diameter of the steel wire φ 0.15mm corresponds to the No. 6 specification, which can precisely control the wet film thickness of about 15.2 μm.
3. Durable material: The mandrel is made of stainless steel 303, and the surface is chrome-plated to prolong the service life.
4. Economic and environmental protection: Wire winding rods can be disbonded and rewound, which helps to save costs and reduce waste.
5. Wide applicability: Spreader method is simple and flexible, can quickly change the coating weight and film thickness, suitable for a variety of substrates.
6. Support customization: RDS provides a variety of diameter and wire diameter specifications of coating rods, and accept customized needs.
Principle
The Working Principle of the RDS wirewound Applicator rod is based on the Mayer rod coating method. As the rod body rolls over a Coating-coated substrate, the precision wire wound around the mandrel forms a gap with the substrate surface. The excess Coating is scraped off by the wire, and the Coating retained in the wire gap is transferred to the substrate, resulting in a uniform wet-film thickness determined by the diameter of the wire. The wet film thickness is approximately one-tenth of the diameter of the wire (in mils), e.g. rod No. 6 (0.15mm wire) corresponds to about 15.2 μm of wet-film.
Applications
Coating, window film, adhesive tape, release paper, photovoltaic film, wall covering material, special paper
Steps
1. Select the appropriate Metering rod model according to the required wet film thickness (e.g. 6 #rod corresponds to about 15.2 μm).
2. Coating is evenly applied to the surface of the substrate to be Spreader.
3. Hold both ends of the Metering rod and place the rod body smoothly at the starting end of the Coating.
4. Roll or pull the Metering rod forward along the surface of the substrate at a uniform speed and appropriate pressure.
5. After completing the Spreader, use a suitable solvent to clean the rod body in time to prevent the Coating from drying up and blocking the steel wire gap.
6. Store the clean coating rods properly.
Notice
• Make sure the Metering rod model matches the required Spreader thickness before use.
• Maintain uniform force and smooth speed during operation to ensure film conformity.
• After the Spreader is completed, the rod body should be thoroughly cleaned immediately, especially the wire gap, to prevent Coating curing blockage.
• Please use a solvent matching the Coating when cleaning to avoid scratching the steel wire or chrome surface with hard objects.
When storing, the rod body should be placed flat or suspended to avoid compression deformation or surface bumping.
• The wire winding rod can be disbonded and rewound. If necessary, please follow professional instructions for the use of sexual repeability.
