Overview
RDS 13 #L2000φ 10 wire-wound Applicator rod is a wire-wound Metering rod, which belongs to the classic "Mayer" rod type. It uses stainless steel 303 mandrel, chrome-plated surface, steel wire diameter is 0.33mm, total length is 2000mm, effective application width is 1900mm, and can produce a wet film thickness of about 33.0μm. The product is manufactured by RDS company in the United States with more than 80 years of experience in R & D and production of rod coatings. With its simple, accurate, uniform and economical Spreader characteristics, it has been widely used in many industries.
Features
1. Classic Wire Winding Design: Using the original "Mayer" rod process, it has a long history and is very popular.
2. Economical and practical: The wire winding rod can be disbonded and rewound, which helps to save costs and reduce waste.
3. Flexible customization: RDS offers more than 70 sizes of stainless steel wire and a variety of diameter specifications, enabling custom bars up to 12 feet in length.
4. Wide applicability: Spreader method is simple, can quickly change the coating weight and film thickness, wide adaptability to the substrate.
5. Professional experience: RDS has experience in Coater retrofitting with Metering rods and can provide solutions for a variety of applications.
Principle
The Working Principle of the wire-wound Applicator rod is based on the Mayer rod coating method. As the coating flows through the wire tightly wound on the mandrel, the gaps (cavities) between the wires determine the thickness of the coating. During the Spreader process, excess coating is scraped off by the wire, leaving a uniform, thickness-controlled wet-film coating. The wire-wound rod is calibrated by wire diameter (in mils), which directly corresponds to the thickness of the Spreader.
Applications
Coating, window film, adhesive tape, release paper, photovoltaic film, wall covering material, special paper
Steps
1. Choose the appropriate Metering rod model (e.g. RDS 13 #) according to the desired Coating thickness and Coating characteristics.
2. Install the Metering rod correctly on the Spreader device to ensure its stability.
3. Adjust the pressure or coil tension of the Metering rod relative to the support roller to control the Coating thickness (for types such as smooth rods).
4. Spreader operation, so that the Coating evenly through the Metering rod.
5. After the Spreader is completed, clean the Metering rod in time to prevent Coating from clogging the wire gap.
Notice
• After long-term use, the wire gap may be blocked, and it needs to be cleaned regularly to maintain the uniformity of the Spreader.
• For high viscosity coatings, wire-wound rods may not be as resistant to clogging as molded rods or double-wound rods, and should be carefully selected according to the characteristics of coatings.
• Pay attention to protect the surface of the Metering rod during operation to avoid bumping and damaging the chrome plating layer or steel wire.
• Storage should be placed in a drying environment to prevent corrosion of the mandrel and steel wire.
• Customized products need to submit detailed requirements through professional tools to obtain accurate quotations.
