Overview
RDS 18 #L2000φ 10 is a wire-wound Applicator rod, which belongs to the type of wire-wound Metering rod. RDS is a professional Spreader Metering rod R & D and production enterprise with more than 80 years of history in the United States. Its products are based on the Mayer rod coating method, which has become one of the popular film methods due to its simplicity, accuracy, uniformity and economy. This model wire-wound drawdown bar is suitable for a variety of substrates, and can quickly adjust the coating weight and film thickness to meet a wide range of industrial Spreader needs.
Features
1. Adopt the classic "Mayer" wire winding rod design, which has a long history and is very popular.
2. The specification is No. 18, corresponding to the diameter of the steel wire 0.46mm (18 mils), and the wet film thickness can reach 45.7μm.
3. The diameter of the main rod is 10mm, the total length is 2000mm, the effective application width is 1900mm, and the clamping length of 50mm is reserved at both ends.
4. The mandrel is made of stainless steel 303, and the surface is chrome-plated to enhance durability.
5. Wire winding rods can be disbonded and rewound, helping to save costs and reduce waste.
6. No minimum booking and no installation costs.
7. Produced by professional brand RDS, providing reliable Spreader solutions.
Principle
The Working Principle of this wire-wound Applicator rod is based on the Mayer rod coating method. As the coating flows through the stainless steel wire tightly wound on the mandrel, the gaps (cavities) between the wires determine the amount of coating transferred to the substrate, thereby controlling the wet film thickness. When Spreader, the excess coating is scraped off, leaving a uniform, thickness-controlled coating. The wire-wound structure is simple and effective, and is the key to achieving accurate Measurement Spreader.
Applications
Coating, window film, adhesive tape, release paper, photovoltaic film, wall covering material, special paper

Steps
1. According to the Spreader process requirements, select the appropriate RDS wire-wound Applicator rod model (such as 18 #L2000φ 10).
2. Apply the Applicator rod to the Spreader device correctly to ensure that both ends are firmly clamped.
3. Adjust the pressure or substrate tension between the coating rod and the support roller to control the Coating thickness.
4. Coating evenly flows through Applicator rod for Spreader operation.
5. After the Spreader is completed, clean the Applicator rod in time to prevent Coating from clogging the wire gap.
Notice
* Applicator rod should be thoroughly cleaned in time after use to prevent residual Coating curing from clogging the wire gap and affecting the next use effect.
* Be careful to avoid hard objects scratching or hitting the surface of the Applicator rod during operation to prevent damage to the chrome plating layer or steel wire winding structure.
* Choose the right type of Metering rod (e.g. wire wound, molded, notched or double wound) and model according to Coating viscosity and desired film thickness.
* For high viscosity coatings, consider using notched rods or double-wound rods to reduce clogging and line issues.
* Wire winding rod can be disbonded and rewound, but professional operation is required to maintain accuracy.
