Overview
RDS 20 #L2000φ 10 wire-wound Applicator rod is a wire-wound Metering rod produced by RDS Company in the United States. RDS company has more than 80 years of experience in R & D and production of coating rods, and its products are widely recognized in the Chinese market. This model adopts winding process and is suitable for Spreader of various substrates. It has the characteristics of simple operation, uniform coating, cost economy, and can quickly adjust coating weight and thickness.
Features
1. Derived from the American RDS brand with a history of more than 80 years, with reliable quality.
2. Adopt the classic "Mayer" wire winding rod design, which is widely used and popular.
3. Wire-wound rod design allows for disbonding and re-winding of steel wire, helping to save costs and reduce waste.
4. Provide more than 70 kinds of steel wire size selection to meet different wet film thickness requirements.
5. The mandrel is made of stainless steel 303, with chrome plating on the surface for good durability.
6. Accept customization, up to 12 feet, to adapt to different application widths.
Principle
The Working Principle of the wire-wound Applicator rod is based on the "Mayer" rod coating method. As the coating flows through the precision wire wound on the mandrel, the voids between the wires determine the wet film thickness of the Spreader onto the substrate. Measurement of excess coating by scraping or forming a uniform, thickness-controlled coating on the substrate surface. This method quickly adjusts the coating thickness by changing the wire diameter (i.e. rod number).
Applications
Coating, window film, adhesive tape, release paper, photovoltaic film, wall covering material, special paper
Standards
The product information does not mention the specific standards it meets.
Steps
1. Select the appropriate rod number (such as 20 #) according to the desired wet film thickness (such as 50.8μm).
2. Install the Metering rod correctly on the Spreader device to ensure that the effective application width (1900mm) matches the substrate.
3. Coating is applied in front of the rod or on the substrate.
4. Measurement of uniform wet-film by scraping or rolling the Metering rod over the coating area at appropriate speed and pressure.
5. After finishing the Spreader, clean the Metering rod in time.
Notice
* After use, the rod body should be cleaned thoroughly in time, especially the steel wire gap, to prevent Coating curing blockage.
* Pay attention to protect the surface of the rod body during operation to avoid bumping and scratching to maintain Measurement accuracy.
* Depending on characteristics such as Coating viscosity, it may be necessary to choose a Miscellaneous type of Metering rod (e.g. molded rod, notched rod, etc.).
Customized products need to be submitted through the specified tool and quoted according to specific specifications.
* Wire winding rod can be disbonded and rewound to extend service life and reduce costs.
