Overview
RDS 24 #L2000φ 10 wire-wound Applicator rod is a wire-wound Metering rod produced by RDS Corporation in the United States. RDS has more than 80 years of experience in R & D and production of Spreader Metering rod. Its products are simple, accurate, uniform and economical, making them one of the most popular film methods. This model of Metering rod is suitable for a variety of substrates and can quickly change the coating weight for a wide range of film thickness control.
Features
1. Derived from the American RDS brand with a history of more than 80 years, with reliable quality.
2. Adopt the classic "Mayer" wire winding rod design, which is widely used.
3. Wire winding rods can be disbonded and rewound, helping to save costs and reduce waste.
4. Offer a variety of specifications, up to 12 feet in length, and accept customized services.
5. The mandrel is made of stainless steel 303 and has a chrome-plated surface, taking into account durability and surface finish.
Principle
The product is a wire-wound Metering rod. Its Working Principle is to tightly wrap a stainless steel wire of a specific diameter on a stainless steel mandrel. When the Coating flows through the rod body, the groove (cavity) formed between the wound wire and the mandrel determines the thickness of the wet-film. The excess Coating is scraped off by the wire, leaving a uniform, thickness-controlled coating on the substrate. The wet film thickness is mainly determined by the diameter of the wire.
Applications
Coating, window film, adhesive tape, release paper, photovoltaic film, wall covering material, special paper
Steps
1. Select the appropriate Metering rod model according to the required wet film thickness (such as 61.0 μm) (such as 24 #corresponding to the wire diameter of 0.61mm).
2. Install the Metering rod correctly on the Spreader device to ensure that the effective application width (1900mm) matches the width of the substrate.
3. Adjust the pressure or substrate tension of the Metering rod relative to the support roller to control the Coating thickness.
4. Spreader operation, so that the Coating evenly through the Metering rod.
5. Clean the rod body in time after use to prevent Coating from blocking the wire winding gap.
Notice
The gap between the winding rods is easier to clog than the forming rods, and it needs to be cleaned thoroughly in time after use.
* When operating, select the appropriate Metering rod type (such as wire winding, molding, notch or double winding) according to the Coating viscosity and process requirements.
When installing, pay attention to the clamping parts at both ends (50mm each) to ensure that the effective Spreader area (1900mm) completely covers the substrate.
* For high viscosity coatings, wire-wound rods may produce lines, consider using notched rods or double-wound rods to reduce this phenomenon.
Customized products need to be submitted through professional tools, and the manufacturer will quote and produce them according to specific process parameters.
