Overview
RDS 25 #L2000φ 10 wire-wound Applicator rod is a wire-wound Metering rod produced by RDS Company in the United States. RDS has more than 80 years of experience in R & D and production of coating rods. Its products have become one of the popular film methods due to their simplicity, accuracy, uniformity and economy. This model is a wound bar, which is suitable for rapidly changing coating weight and a wide range of film thicknesses. It has sufficient flexibility and is suitable for a wide range of substrates.
Features
1. Derived from the American RDS brand with a history of more than 80 years, with reliable quality.
2. Adopt the classic "Mayer" wire winding rod design, which is widely used.
3. The specification is No. 25, corresponding to the diameter of the steel wire 0.64mm (25 mils), and the wet film thickness can reach 63.5μm.
4. Main rod diameter 10mm, total length 2000mm, effective application width of 1900mm, suitable for wide Spreader.
5. The mandrel is made of stainless steel 303 and has a chrome-plated surface to enhance durability.
6. Wire winding rods can be disbonded and rewound, helping to save costs and reduce waste.
7. Provide customized services and can be produced according to specific needs.
Principle
The RDS wire-wound Applicator rod works on the principle of Mayer rod coating. As the coating flows through the stainless steel wire tightly wound on the mandrel, the gap (groove) between the wires determines the thickness of the coating. The rod body rolls or scrapes on the surface of the substrate to scrape off the excess coating, leaving only the Basis Weight Coating in the groove to transfer to the substrate, resulting in a uniform, thickness-controlled wet-film.
Applications
Coating, window film, adhesive tape, release paper, photovoltaic film, wall covering material, special paper
Standards
The data did not mention specific compliance criteria.
Steps
1. According to the Spreader process requirements, select the appropriate RDS Metering rod model (such as wire winding rod, molding rod, etc.).
2. Install the Metering rod correctly on the Spreader device to ensure a stable installation.
3. Adjust the pressure of the Metering rod relative to the support roller or the tension of the substrate to control the Coating thickness (for types such as smooth rods).
4. Coating evenly flows through the Metering rod face.
5. Start the device so that the substrate passes smoothly under the Metering rod to complete the Spreader.
6. After the Spreader is completed, clean the Metering rod in time.
Notice
• Choose the appropriate Metering rod type (e.g., wire wound, molded, notched or double wound) based on Coating viscosity, desired film thickness and substrate characteristics.
• Wire winding rod grooves may be more likely to clog than molding rods, so pay attention to cleaning.
• For high viscosity coatings, consider using notched or double-wound rods to reduce clogging and line problems.
• Pay attention to control the pressure or tension during operation to obtain a uniform coating.
• After use, the rod body should be thoroughly cleaned in time to prevent Coating curing from blocking the groove and affecting the next use effect and the life of the rod body.
• Wire winding rods can be disbonded and rewound to save costs.
• Special requirements can be submitted for customized production through the official customization tool.
