Overview
RDS 28 #L2000φ 10 wire-wound Applicator rod is a wire-wound Spreader Metering rod produced by RDS Company in the United States. The product is based on the classic "Mayer rod" Spreader method, which has the characteristics of simple operation, accurate and uniform Spreader, and cost economy. It can quickly change the coating weight and achieve a wide range of film thicknesses. It is suitable for a variety of substrates. RDS has more than 80 years of experience in R & D and production of rod coatings, and its products are widely favored in the Chinese market.
Features
1. Classic wire winding design: using the original "Mayer" rod process, the size is 28 (corresponding to the wire diameter of 0.71 mils/0.71mm).
2. Flexible and economical: disbonding and rewinding of steel wire helps to save costs and reduce waste.
3. Specifications are clear: wet film thickness is 71.1 μm, total length is 2000mm, and the effective application width is 1900mm.
4. Reliable material: The mandrel is made of stainless steel 303, and the surface is chrome-plated to ensure both durability and surface finish.
5. Customized service: RDS provides a variety of specifications of coating rods and accepts customization, up to 12 feet.
Principle
The Working Principle of the RDS Wire Winding Applicator rod is based on the Mayer rod Spreader method. The wires are wound around the mandrel at a precise spacing, and the voids between the wires form a cavity for receiving the Coating. When the rod body rolls or scrapes on the surface of the substrate, the excess Coating is scraped off by the wire, and the Coating retained in the cavity is transferred to the substrate, resulting in a wet-film of uniform thickness. The wet film thickness is mainly determined by the diameter of the wire.
Applications
Coating, window film, adhesive tape, release paper, photovoltaic film, wall covering material, special paper
Standards
The data did not mention specific compliance criteria.
Steps
1. According to the Spreader process requirements, select the appropriate RDS Spreader Metering rod model (such as wire winding rod, molding rod, etc.).
2. Install the coating rod correctly on the Spreader equipment to ensure that it is firmly fixed.
3. Place the Spreader Coating in front of the rod.
4. Spreader the coating rod to move or roll smoothly on the surface of the substrate.
5. After the Spreader is completed, clean the rod body in time to prevent the Coating from drying up and blocking the steel wire gap.
Notice
• Coating thickness of the wire winding rod is determined by the diameter of the wire, and the appropriate rod number should be selected according to the target wet film thickness.
• After use, it should be cleaned thoroughly in time, especially the steel wire gap, to prevent Coating residual curing from causing blockage and affecting the next Spreader effect.
• During operation, ensure that the coating rod is installed smoothly and the pressure is uniform to obtain a coating of uniform thickness.
• Although the wire winding rod can be re-wound, care should be taken to avoid damaging the rod body or affecting the accuracy.
• For high viscosity coatings, double-wound or notched rods can be considered to reduce the risk of clogging.
