Overview
The RDS 34 #L2000φ 10 wire-wound Applicator rod is a wire-wound Metering rod produced by the American RDS company with a history of more than 80 years. The product is based on the classic "Mayer rod" Spreader principle, which creates a specific gap on the mandrel through precision-wound stainless steel wire to control wet film thickness. It is designed to provide a simple, accurate, uniform and economical Spreader solution for a variety of substrates and a wide range of film thickness requirements.
Features
1. Originating from the American RDS brand, it has more than 80 years of professional production history and reliable quality.
2. Using the classic wire-wound (Mayer rod) design, the Spreader method is simple, accurate, uniform, and cost-effective.
3. Accurate wet film thickness control, this model corresponds to a wet film thickness of 86.4μm.
4. The diameter of the steel wire (φ 0.86mm) and the diameter of the main rod (φ 10mm) are clearly specified to ensure the uniformity of the Spreader.
5. Total length 2000mm, effective application width of 1900mm, suitable for wide Spreader applications.
6. The mandrel is made of stainless steel 303, and the surface is chrome-plated, which has both corrosion resistance and Abrasion Resistance to prolong the service life.
7. Wire winding rods can be disbonded and rewound, helping to save costs and reduce waste.
8. RDS offers a variety of Metering rod types (wire wound, formed, smooth, notched, double wound) and specifications, and accepts customization to meet the needs of different industries and applications.
Principle
The working principle of this wire-wound Applicator rod is based on the "Mayer rod" Spreader method. During the Spreader process, the Coating is applied to the substrate. When the Metering rod rolls over the wet coating, the precision-wound wire on the rod forms a specific gap cavity with the surface of the substrate. The excess Coating is scraped off by the wire and retained within the cavity, leaving a uniform wet-film coating on the substrate whose thickness is determined by the wire diameter and the winding gap. By changing the wire diameter or winding method, the coating weight and film thickness can be quickly adjusted.
Applications
Coating, window film, adhesive tape, release paper, photovoltaic film, wall covering material, special paper
Standards
The data did not mention specific compliance criteria.
Steps
1. According to the Spreader process requirements (such as wet film thickness, Coating viscosity, substrate type), select the appropriate Metering rod model (such as wire winding rod, molding rod, etc.).
2. Install the Metering rod correctly on the Spreader device, ensuring that the rod body is parallel to the support roller or substrate, and adjust the appropriate pressure or tension.
3. Coating is evenly applied to the surface of the substrate.
4. Start the equipment, so that the Metering rod rolls over the wet coating at a constant speed, scrapes off the excess Coating, and forms a uniform wet-film.
5. After the Spreader is completed, clean the Metering rod in time to prevent Coating residual curing from clogging the winding gap.
Notice
• When selecting Metering rods, factors such as Coating viscosity, required wet film thickness, and substrate characteristics should be comprehensively considered. For high viscosity Coatings, notched rods or double-wound rods can be considered to reduce clogging.
• When installing, ensure that the Metering rod is parallel to the coating surface, and the pressure or tension is uniform to ensure the conformity of the film thickness.
• Spreader process, pay attention to observe the uniformity of the film, if there are stripes or uneven thickness, need to check whether the Metering rod is clean or installed correctly.
• Metering rod must be thoroughly cleaned in time after use, especially at the winding gap, to prevent Coating from drying up and blocking, affecting the effect and accuracy of the next use.
• The wire winding rod can be disbonded and re-wound to prolong the service life, but the operation should be careful to avoid damage to the mandrel.
• For special applications or non-standard requirements, you can contact the supplier for customization.
• Chrome plating on the surface can prolong the life of the rod body, but it is still necessary to avoid scratching or impact with hard objects.
• When stored for a long time, it should be properly stored after cleaning and drying.
