Overview
RDS 36 #L2000φ 10 wire-wound Applicator rod is a wire-wound Metering rod produced by RDS Company in the United States, based on the classic "Mayer" rod coating principle. The Spreader method is known for its simplicity, accuracy, uniformity and economy. It can quickly change the coating weight and achieve a wide range of film thicknesses. It is suitable for a variety of substrates. RDS has more than 80 years of experience in R & D and production of coating rods. Its products are widely used in Coating, Window Film, Tape, Release Paper, Photovoltaic Film, Wall Covering Materials, Specialty Paper and other industries.
Features
1. Classic wire winding process: The original "Mayer" rod design is used to form a precise wet film thickness through stainless steel wire winding.
2. Precise specifications: Model 36 #corresponds to a wire diameter of 0.91mm (36 mils), which can form a wet film thickness of about 91.4 μm.
3. Strong structure: The main rod is made of stainless steel 303, the surface is chrome-plated, the diameter is 10mm, the total length is 2000mm, and the effective application width is 1900mm.
4. High maintainability: Wire winding rods can be disbonded and rewound, helping to save costs and reduce waste.
5. Wide applicability: good flexibility, suitable for a variety of substrates and Coating systems.
Principle
The Working Principle of the Wire-Wrapped Applicator rod is based on Measurement Transfer. When the Spreader liquid flows through the stainless steel wire wound on the mandrel, the voids (grooves) between the wires intercept and Measurement a specific volume of Coating. When the rod rolls or scrapes on the surface of the substrate, this part of the Coating to be Measurement is transferred to the substrate to form a uniform, thickness-controlled wet-film. The wet film thickness is mainly determined by the diameter of the wire.
Applications
Coating, window film, adhesive tape, release paper, photovoltaic film, wall covering material, special paper
Standards

Steps
The information does not provide specific operation steps. It is recommended to refer to the equipment manual or contact the supplier to obtain it. General Spreader operations may include:
1. Applicator rod properly installed on the Spreader device.
2. Adjust the pressure or gap between the coating rod and the substrate or back roller.
3. Spreader Coating is applied to the bar.
4. Start the device to make the substrate pass at a uniform speed or make the Applicator rod roll at a uniform speed to complete the Spreader.
5. Spreader clean Applicator rod in time after completion.
Notice
* Please confirm Applicator rod model (36 #) matches the required wet film thickness (approx. 91.4 μm) before use.
* Adjust the Spreader pressure or tension according to the Coating viscosity and process requirements during operation.
* After the Spreader is completed, the rod body should be thoroughly cleaned immediately, especially the steel wire gap, to prevent Coating curing blockage and affect the next use effect and accuracy.
The chrome plating on the surface can extend the service life, but it is still necessary to avoid scratching or impact with hard objects.
* The rod is wire-wound, if there is abrasion or damage after long-term use, you can consider disbonding and re-winding the wire for maintenance.
* When customizing or selecting, it is necessary to clarify the specific parameters such as application width, rod diameter, and clamping method.
