Overview
RDS 38 #L2000φ 10 is a wire-wound Applicator rod produced by RDS Corporation in the United States. RDS has more than 80 years of experience in the development and production of Spreader Metering rod. Its products are known for the simple, accurate, uniform and economical Spreader method, which can quickly change the coating weight and achieve a wide range of film thicknesses. It is suitable for a wide range of substrates. The model is a wire-wound Metering rod with a total length of 2000mm and an effective application width of 1900mm. It is suitable for Spreader processes in a variety of industries.
Features
1. Derived from the American RDS brand with a history of more than 80 years, with reliable quality.
2. Adopt the classic "Mayer" wire winding rod design, which is widely used.
3. The model is 38 #, corresponding to the wire diameter of 0.97mm (about 38 mils), and the wet film thickness is about 96.5μm.
4. The diameter of the main rod is 10mm, the total length is 2000mm, the effective application width is 1900mm, and the clamping length of 50mm is reserved at both ends.
5. The mandrel is made of stainless steel 303 and has a chrome-plated surface to enhance durability.
6. Wire-wound rod design allows for disbonding and re-winding of steel wire, helping to save costs and reduce waste.
7. Spreader method has good flexibility and can meet the needs of rapidly changing coating weight and wide film thickness.
Principle
The Working Principle of the RDS wire-wound Applicator rod is based on the Mayer rod coating method. When the Spreader liquid passes through the stainless steel wire tightly wound on the metal rod body, the gap (cavity) between the wires determines the wet film thickness transferred to the substrate. The excess coating is scraped off by the wire, resulting in a uniform, thickness-controlled coating on the substrate. Coating Weight can be quickly adjusted by changing Metering rods of different wire diameters.
Applications
Coating, window film, adhesive tape, release paper, photovoltaic film, wall covering material, special paper
Standards
The data did not mention specific compliance criteria.
Steps
1. According to the desired wet film thickness, select the appropriate Metering rod model (e.g. 38 #corresponds to about 96.5 μm).
2. Install the Metering rod correctly on the Spreader device to ensure that the two ends are firmly clamped.
3. Make the Spreader liquid flow through the Metering rod, or make the Metering rod roll/scrape on the substrate to which the Coating has been applied.
4. Metering rod wire gap will scrape off excess Coating, leaving a uniform wet-film of predetermined thickness on the substrate.
5. After the Spreader is completed, clean the Metering rod in time.
Notice
* After use, the rod body should be cleaned thoroughly in time, especially the steel wire gap, to prevent Coating curing blockage.
Avoid bumping during operation and storage to prevent damage to the surface of the wire winding or rod body.
* According to the characteristics such as Coating viscosity, you can choose different types such as wire wound rod, molding rod, notched rod or double wound rod to obtain the best effect.
* The wire of the wire winding rod can be disbonded and rewound to prolong the service life of the rod body and reduce costs.
The chrome plating treatment on the surface can prolong the life of the rod body, but it still requires attention to maintenance.
