Overview
RDS 39 #L2000φ 10 wire-wound Applicator rod is a wire-wound Spreader Metering rod designed based on the classic "Mayer rod" principle. It uses the process of precision winding a specific diameter steel wire on the surface of a stainless steel mandrel for precise and uniform Spreader liquid Coating or coating on a variety of substrates. The product is supplied by RDS, an American company with more than 80 years of experience in R & D and production of coating rods. With its simplicity, accuracy, uniformity and economy, it has become one of the most popular film methods.
Features
1. Classic design: Derived from the "Mayer" rod principle popular in the 1920s, the technology is mature and reliable.
2. Precise specifications: Model 39 #corresponds to a wire diameter of 0.99mm (39 mils), and the wet film thickness can reach 99.1 μm to meet the specific needs of Spreaders.
3. Durable structure: The mandrel is made of stainless steel 303, and the surface is chrome-plated to prolong the service life.
4. Flexible size: total length 2000mm, effective application width of 1900mm, 50mm clamping length reserved at both ends, suitable for a variety of Spreader equipment.
5, repeability: Wire winding rod structure supports disbonding and re-winding steel wire, which helps to save costs and reduce waste.
6. Wide range of applications: suitable for Spreader requirements in a variety of industries and substrates.
Principle
The working principle of the wire-wound Applicator rod is based on gap measurement. When the Spreader fluid is applied to the substrate and passes through the Applicator rod, a series of precise gap cavities are formed between the tightly wound wire on the rod surface and the substrate. These cavities precisely control and scrape away excess Spreader fluid, leaving a uniform thickness wet-film coating on the substrate surface determined by the wire diameter and winding gap. The thickness of the coating can be quickly adjusted by changing the diameter of the wire.
Applications
Coating, window film, adhesive tape, release paper, photovoltaic film, wall covering material, special paper
Standards
The data did not mention specific compliance criteria.
Steps
1. Select the appropriate Metering rod model (e.g. 39 #) according to the desired wet film thickness (e.g. 99.1 μm).
2. Install the Metering rod (total length 2000mm, effective width 1900mm) correctly on the Spreader equipment to ensure that both ends are firmly clamped.
3. Coating to be applied evenly to the surface of the substrate.
4. Make the substrate bearing the Coating smoothly pass under the Metering rod, and the rod body will scrape off the excess Coating to form a uniform wet-film.
5. After the Spreader is completed, clean the rod body in time to prevent the Coating from drying up and blocking the steel wire gap.
Notice
• Before use, please confirm that the Metering rod model (wire diameter φ 0.99mm) matches the target wet film thickness (99.1 μm).
• Pay attention to protecting the chrome plating layer and steel wire winding on the surface of the rod body during installation to avoid bumping and deformation.
• During the Spreader process, ensure that the contact pressure between the rod body and the substrate is uniform to obtain a consistent coating effect.
• Thorough cleaning should be carried out immediately after use, especially the wire gap, to prevent high Solid content or fast drying Coating curing blockage.
• The wire winding rod can support steel wire disbonding and rewinding, and the accuracy of rewinding needs to be ensured when using the repeability.
• For higher viscosity coatings, consider using Miscellaneous types such as molded rods, notched rods, or double-wound rods to reduce clogging.
• Customized requirements (e.g. Miscellaneous sizes or materials) can be submitted through official designated channels.
