Overview
RDS 48 #L2000φ 10 wire-wound Applicator rod is a wire-wound Metering rod produced by RDS in the United States. RDS has more than 80 years of experience in R & D and production of coating rods. Its products are based on the classic Mayer rod coating method, which is popular for simple operation, uniform and accurate coating, and cost-effective. This model is suitable for a variety of substrates and can quickly adjust the coating weight and thickness, providing a flexible Spreader solution.
Features
1. Originating from the American RDS brand, it has more than 80 years of professional production history.
2. Adopting a classic wire-wound (Mayer rod) design, it is widely used and reliable.
3. The wet film thickness is 121.9μm, and the coating control is accurate and uniform.
4. The main rod diameter is 10mm, the total length is 2000mm, the effective application width is 1900mm, suitable for wide Spreader needs.
5. The mandrel is made of stainless steel 303, and the surface is chrome-plated to enhance durability.
6. Wire winding rod design supports disbonding and re-winding, which helps to save costs and reduce waste.
7. Can be customized according to specific needs.
Principle
The wire-wound Applicator rod works based on the Mayer rod coating principle. Its surface is tightly wound with a specific diameter (φ 1.22mm) stainless steel wire, and the voids between the wires form a measurement cavity. When the rod body rolls over the coating on the substrate surface during the Spreader process, the excess coating is scraped off by the wire, and the coating retained in the gap is transferred to the substrate, resulting in a uniform thickness wet-film coating determined by the wire diameter and winding gap.
Applications
Coating, window film, adhesive tape, release paper, photovoltaic film, wall covering material, special paper
Standards
The data did not mention specific compliance criteria.
Steps
1. According to the Spreader process requirements, choose the appropriate Metering rod model (such as RDS 48 #L2000φ 10).
2. Install the Metering rod correctly on the Spreader device or bracket to ensure a stable installation.
3. Adjust the pressure of the Metering rod relative to the support roller or the tension of the substrate to control the Coating thickness (for types such as smooth rods).
4. Make the Metering rod roll evenly on the surface of the substrate for Spreader operation.
5. After the Spreader is completed, clean the Metering rod in time to prevent Coating from clogging the wire gap.
Notice
• After use, the rod body should be cleaned in time, especially the steel wire gap, to prevent Coating curing blockage and affect the next use effect.
• Pay attention to protecting the surface of the rod body during operation to avoid bumping and damaging the steel wire or chrome plating.
• For high viscosity coatings, special designs such as notched rods or double-wound rods can be considered to reduce clogging.
• The wire winding rod can be disbonded and rewound to prolong the service life, but attention should be paid to the professionalism of the operation.
• Customized products need to submit detailed requirements through professional tools to obtain accurate quotations.
• Before specific application, it is recommended to conduct a sample test to confirm the Spreader effect.
