Overview
RDS 70 #L2000φ 10 is a wire-wound Applicator rod, which belongs to the type of wire-wound rod and is a classic "Mayer" rod. It is produced by RDS, a company with more than 80 years of history in the United States, using the wire-wound process, the main rod diameter is φ 10mm, the total length is 2000mm, the effective application width is 1900mm, and the wet film thickness is 177.8μm. The product is suitable for a variety of substrates, achieving accurate, uniform and cost-effective film through simple coating methods.
Features
1. Originating from the American RDS brand, with more than 80 years of professional production experience.
2. It adopts the classic wire winding rod ("Mayer" rod) design, the model specification is 70 #, and the diameter of the steel wire is φ 1.78mm.
3. The main rod is made of stainless steel 303 and has a chrome-plated surface to enhance durability.
4. The wet film thickness is 177.8μm, the effective application width is 1900mm, and the total length is 2000mm.
5. Wire winding rod design allows for disbonding and re-winding, helping to save costs and reduce waste.
6. Spreader method is simple, accurate, uniform and cost-effective, can quickly change the coating weight and film thickness.
7. Wide range of applicable substrates with good flexibility.
Principle
The wire-wound Applicator rod works based on the Mayer rod coating principle. As the coating flows through the stainless steel wire wound on the mandrel, the gaps (cavities) between the wires determine the wet film thickness transferred to the substrate. Accurate Measurement and Spreader of Coating thickness and uniformity can be achieved by controlling the pressure and gap between the rod and the substrate (or support roller).
Applications
Coating, window film, adhesive tape, release paper, photovoltaic film, wall covering material, special paper
Standards
The data did not mention specific compliance criteria.
Steps
1. According to the Spreader process requirements, choose the appropriate Metering rod model (such as RDS 70 #L2000φ 10).
2. Install the Metering rod correctly on the Spreader device to ensure that both ends are firmly clamped (clamping length 50mm).
3. Adjust the pressure and gap between the Metering rod and the support roller or substrate to control the Coating thickness.
4. Start the Spreader device, so that the Coating flows evenly through the Metering rod, Spreader to the surface of the substrate.
5. After the Spreader is completed, clean the Metering rod in time to prevent Coating from clogging the wire gap.
Notice
* Please confirm whether the model and specifications (such as wire diameter, wet film thickness) of the Metering rod meet your process requirements before use.
* When installing, ensure that the Metering rod is firmly clamped and maintained in the correct relative position and pressure with the support roller or substrate.
* Spreader process, pay attention to observe the uniformity of the coating, if necessary, adjust the pressure or clearance.
* Metering rod should be thoroughly cleaned in time after use, especially the steel wire gap, to prevent blockage caused by residual curing.
* Wire winding rods can be disbonded and rewound to extend service life, but care should be taken to avoid damage.
* For higher viscosity coatings, Miscellaneous types of Metering rods such as notched rods or double-wound rods may need to be considered to reduce clogging.
