Overview
RDS 75 #L2000φ 10 is a wire-wound Applicator rod manufactured by RDS Company in the United States with more than 80 years of experience in R & D and production of Spreader Metering rod. The product is based on the classic Mayer rod coating method, which has the characteristics of simple operation of Spreader, uniform and accurate coating, and cost-effective. It can quickly adjust the coating weight and achieve a wide range of film thicknesses. It is suitable for a variety of substrates. This model is a wire-wound coating rod with a total length of 2000mm, an effective application width of 1900mm, and the diameter of the main rod is 10mm. It adopts stainless steel 303 mandrel and has a chrome-plated surface. The diameter of the steel wire is 1.91mm, and the corresponding wet film thickness is about 190.5μm.
Features
1. Originating from the American RDS brand, it has more than 80 years of professional production history and mature and reliable technology.
2. Adopting the classic wire-wound (Mayer rod) design, it is one of the widely used Spreader Metering rod types.
3. Coating thickness adjustment is fast, Spreader uniform and accurate, applicable to a wide range of substrates.
4. Wire winding rod design allows for disbonding and re-winding of steel wire, which helps to save usage costs and reduce waste.
5. Provide customized services that can be produced according to user-specific needs, up to 12 feet in length.
6. The mandrel is made of stainless steel 303, and the surface is chrome-plated to enhance durability.
Principle
The RDS wire-wound Applicator rod works based on the Mayer rod coating principle. As the coating flows through the stainless steel wire tightly wound on the metal rod body, the gap (groove) between the wires determines the final wet film thickness left on the substrate. During the Spreader process, excess coating is scraped off by the wire, allowing only a specific amount of coating to pass through the gap, resulting in a uniform, thickness-controlled coating on the substrate. Coating thickness of the wire-wound rod is mainly determined by the diameter of the steel wire used.
