Overview
RDS custom bar (model: 5 #L500φ 9.5) is a wide-wound Spreader Metering rod based on the classic Mayer rod coating principle. The product is developed and produced by RDS company with a history of more than 80 years. With its simple, accurate, uniform and economical characteristics of Spreader, it has been widely used in paint, window film, tape, release paper, photovoltaic film, wall covering material, special paper and other industries. This is a custom specification, with a total length of 500mm and an effective application width of 400mm. It is suitable for Spreader processes that require precise control of wet film thickness.
Features
1. Originating from RDS in the United States, it has more than 80 years of professional R & D and production history, with reliable quality.
2. Using the classic Mayer rod design, the Spreader method is simple, accurate, uniform, and cost-effective.
3. Provide the flexibility to quickly change coating weight and a wide range of film thickness, suitable for a wide range of substrates.
4. Wire winding rod design allows for disbonding and re-winding, helping to save costs and reduce material waste.
5. Accept customization and can provide solutions according to specific application requirements, up to 12 feet in length.
6. We offer more than 70 sizes of stainless steel wire and 15 different diameters of multi-stage stainless steel rods to meet diverse needs.
Principle
The Working Principle of RDS wire wound rods is based on the Mayer rod coating method. Uniform cavities are created between the wires by wrapping a specific diameter of stainless steel wire on a precision stainless steel rod core. As the paint flows through the rod body, these cavities determine the amount of paint transferred to the substrate, thus precisely controlling the thickness of the wet-film. Excess paint is scraped off, leaving a uniform coating.
Applications
Paint, manufacturing window film, tape, release paper, photovoltaic film, wall covering material, special paper
Steps
1. According to the Spreader process requirements (such as wet film thickness, coating viscosity, substrate type), choose the appropriate Metering rod model and specification through professional tools or consulting suppliers.
2. Install the Metering rod correctly on the Spreader device to ensure stable installation.
3. Start the Spreader device so that the paint flows evenly through the Metering rod.
4. The substrate passes under the Metering rod, and the rod body transfers a predetermined thickness of paint to the surface of the substrate to form a uniform wet-film.
5. After the Spreader is completed, clean the Metering rod in time to prevent the paint from drying up and blocking the wire winding gap.
Notice
• When selecting Metering rods, factors such as coating viscosity, required wet film thickness, substrate characteristics and Spreader speed should be comprehensively considered.
• When installing, ensure that the Metering rod is stable and level, and the gap pressure with the support roller or substrate is uniform to ensure the uniformity of the Spreader.
• Thorough cleaning should be carried out in time after use to keep the wire winding gap unobstructed to avoid coating residue curing affecting the next use effect and rod life.
• Although the wire winding rod can be disbonded and rewound to save costs, the operation needs to be professional to avoid damaging the rod core or affecting the winding accuracy.
• For high-viscosity coatings, special designs such as notched rods or double-wound rods can be considered to reduce clogging and line problems.
• Customized products need to provide clear process parameters (such as total length, effective application width, clamping length, wet film thickness requirements, etc.).
