Overview
The American RDS 6# wire-wound coating applicator, model 6# 3/8, is a coating tool designed for preparing a wet film thickness of 13.7 micrometers. The applicator has a total length of 400 mm and a coating width of 300 mm. It is available in two types: wire-wound and precision-machined. For the wire-wound type, the wire diameters are available in 9.5 mm, 6.35 mm, and 12.7 mm, while the precision-machined type is only available in a 6.35 mm diameter. Applicators of the same model produce the same wet film thickness, but there may be slight variations in the amount of coating material applied.
Features
1. Two types of wire-wound and preformed wire applicators are available.
2. The wire-wound applicator offers three diameter options: 9.5mm, 6.35mm, and 12.7mm.
3. Made of stainless steel for strong durability.
4. Precisely controls the wet film thickness to 13.7 microns.
5. Ergonomic design with a handle width of 50+50mm for comfortable operation.
Principle
The RDS wire-wound applicator uses precisely wound stainless steel wires to create specific gaps. When the applicator rolls over the substrate surface, the coating material passes through the wire gaps and is evenly applied, forming a wet film of precise thickness. Wire-wound applicators create coating gaps by winding wires, while preformed applicators produce the coating structure through a molding process.
Applications
Coating application, laboratory research, quality inspection, surface treatment
Steps
1. Place an appropriate amount of coating at one end of the substrate.
2. Hold both ends of the applicator and roll it over the substrate surface with constant speed and pressure.
3. Ensure the applicator remains parallel to the substrate surface.
4. Clean the applicator after completing the coating process.
Notice
• Ensure the applicator is clean and free of residue before use.
• Maintain a uniform speed and constant pressure during application.
• Different models of applicators produce varying wet film thicknesses; please choose according to your needs.
• Clean promptly after use to avoid curing of the coating.
• Avoid collisions and deformation during storage.
