Overview
The cylindrical mandrel bending instrument TR 5212 is a special instrument of the TRUIT brand for testing the bending performance of films. It consists of 12 high-Hardness stainless steel shaft rods of different diameters, with diameter markings at both ends of the shaft rods for easy identification and operation, ensuring accurate and reliable tests. The instrument complies with GB/T 6742, ISO 1519 and ASTM D522 standards, and is used to evaluate the cracking resistance of coatings during bending and/or the performance of flaking from substrates. It supports two methods: "pass/fail" test and determination of maximum shaft diameter.
Features
1. Humanized design, Appearance simple and generous.
2. Convenient and quick operation, the test shaft is easy to replace.
3. The newly designed clamping device makes it easier to clamp the test plate.
4. Both ends of the shaft rod are marked with diameter for easy identification.
5. The shaft rod is precision machined from high-Hardness stainless steel material, and 12 different diameter shaft rods are provided: φ 2mm, φ 3mm, φ 4mm, φ 5mm, φ 6mm, φ 8mm, φ 10mm, φ 12mm, φ 16mm, φ 20mm, φ 25mm, φ 32mm.
6. Suitable test plate size: length 120mm~ 150mm; width less than 70mm; Film thickness less than 1.0mm (when using a shaft rod below 10mm, Film thickness is not greater than 0.5mm).
Principle
The cylindrical mandrel bending meter tests the performance of a coating plate under standard conditions by bending it around cylindrical mandrel rods of different diameters. It uses two test methods: as a "pass/fail" test, using a specified diameter shaft rod to assess whether the coating meets specific requirements; the second is to use the shaft rod in turn to test to determine the maximum shaft diameter that cracks the coating and/or flaking from the substrate.
Applications
Paints, varnishes and related coatings
Standards
GB/T 6742、ISO 1519、ASTM D522
Steps
1. Prepare the appropriate size of the test plate: length 120mm~ 150mm, width less than 70mm, Film thickness less than 1.0mm (when using the shaft rod below 10mm, Film thickness is not greater than 0.5mm).
2. Select the test method as required: as a "pass/fail" test or as a test to determine the maximum shaft diameter.
3. Select the shaft rod of the corresponding diameter, and the two ends of the shaft rod are marked for easy identification.
4. Secure the test plate to the instrument using a clamping device.
5. Operate the instrument to bend the test plate around the shaft rod and observe whether the coating is cracking or flaking.
6. Record the test results, such as pass/fail status or maximum shaft diameter.
Notice
• The size of the test plate must meet the requirements: length 120mm~ 150mm, width less than 70mm, Film thickness less than 1.0mm.
• Film thickness should not be greater than 0.5mm when using shaft rod below 10mm.
• Make sure the diameter of the shaft rod is clearly marked before operation to avoid misuse.
• When using the clamping device, ensure that the test plate is firmly fixed.
• Clean and maintain the instrument in time after the test to maintain accuracy.
