Overview
The RDS 3 #1/4 Forming Applicator rod is a professional Spreader tool for preparing wet-film coatings of approximately 7 microns in thickness. The product is manufactured using a formed process with a diameter of 6.35mm, a total length of 400mm, and an application width of 300mm. It is suitable for precise film thickness control in Coatings, inks, and most fluid industries.
Features
1. Using a seamless winding process, the diameter of the steel wire is only 0.08mm, which is equivalent to the thickness of a hair
2. Stainless steel material, strong durability
3. Production process formed to ensure Spreader accuracy
4. Provide 300mm effective application width, 50 + 50mm hand width design
5. The probability of broken wire is extremely low, only 2 per cent according to statistics
Principle
RDS No. 3 Mayer Rods form a uniform groove structure on the surface of the rod body through precision wound fine steel wires. When the coating applicator moves on the substrate, the excess fluid material is scraped off, leaving only the wet-film of the set thickness. Its wet film thickness is determined by the diameter of the wire, and the No. 3 rod can be prepared with a wet film thickness of about 6.9 microns.
Applications
Coatings, inks, fluid industry
Steps
1. Spreader the material evenly onto the substrate
2. Applicator rod at both ends to move smoothly on the substrate at the appropriate angle and pressure
3. Clean and maintain in time after completing the Spreader
Notice
• The diameter of the steel wire is only 0.08mm, which is difficult to distinguish with the naked eye. It is recommended to use magnifying glass for observation
• Avoid bumping when using to prevent broken wires
• Spreader should be cleaned in time to avoid material curing
• Spreader substrate Hardness should be considered when selecting, and hard substrate is recommended to use molding coating rod
• Different diameters and processes of coating rod Spreaders have the same effect, but Coating Weight Consumption may be different
