Overview
American RDS No. 5 Mayer Rods (also known as coating rod, coating bar) is a laboratory precision film tool, model 5 #1/4 ", made of stainless steel, manufactured through a formed production process. The product is mainly used for preparatory precise wet-film coating, wet film thickness is 11.4 μm, diameter 6.35mm, total length 400mm, application width 300mm, hand width 50 + 50mm.
Features
1. Made of high-grade stainless steel to ensure durability and accuracy
2. Provide molding and wire-wound process options to adapt to different needs
3. Wire-wound Mayer Rods available in 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 inch diameter sizes
4. Designed for laboratory environments for the preparation of precise membranes
5. The wet film thickness is fixed at 11.4 μm to ensure Spreader conformity
Principle
Mayer Rods forms a uniform wet-film on the substrate through a formed process. When coating rods of different diameters are prepared with the same wet film thickness, the Coating Weight will vary depending on the groove shape and the diameter of the main rod. The 1/4 inch diameter specification is widely used in Taiwan and Singapore, while the domestic mainstream uses 3/8 inch diameter.
Applications
Laboratory film preparatory, precision coating applications
Steps
1. Select the appropriate Mayer Rods model and diameter
2. Spreader Substrate and Coatings
3. Place the coating rod smoothly on the substrate
4. Apply pressure evenly and move the coating rod uniformly
5. Clean up tool after finishing Spreader
Notice
• Before use, confirm that the coating rod model and specifications meet the experimental requirements
• Keep moving at a constant speed during operation to ensure uniform coating
• Clean the coating rod in time after use to avoid Coating residue
• Different diameter coating rod may cause Coating Weight difference, need to choose according to actual needs
• Avoid collision and corrosion environments during storage
