Overview
LENETA Form 9A sealed Opacity Chart is a professional test cardboard for testing coatings, inks hiding power performance, and levelling sag. Its surface is a special style with upper 1/2 black and white stripes, medium 1/4 black, and lower 1/4 white. It is covered with a layer of sealed coating to prevent the penetration of the test paint and ensure the accuracy of the test results.
Features
1. Special surface design: the upper 1/2 is black and white stripes, the middle 1/4 is black, and the lower 1/4 is white, which is convenient for hiding power evaluation.
2. Covered with sealed coating: effectively prevent paint and inks from penetrating into the interior of the cardboard to avoid affecting the test results.
3. Compliance with standards: Designed for ASTM and other relevant testing standards.
4. Uniform specifications: the size is 140 x 254mm (5-1/2 x 10 inches), and the Encasement specification is 250 sheets/box, which is convenient for laboratory batch use.
Principle
The Opacity Chart provides a contrast background for paint and inks' Spreaders through the black and white areas on their surfaces. During the test, the paint is evenly Spreader on the cardboard, and then the degree of coverage of the lower black and white areas is covered by observation or instrument measurement after drying. The hiding power is calculated as: Y (black area reflection value)/Y (white area reflection value) * 100%, the closer the value is to 100%, the stronger the covering ability. The covered sealing layer ensures that the test only evaluates the covering performance of the paint, not its penetration behavior into the paper.
Applications
Paints, inks
Steps
Spreader the paints or paints on the Form 9A Opacity Chart according to the standard film procedure.
2. Wait for the film to fully dry in the air.
3. Use a suitable instrument to objectively evaluate the dried film, and the instrument can automatically calculate and display the hiding power value.
Notice
• The surface of the cardboard is sealed, please ensure that the coating Spreader is uniform during testing to obtain accurate results.
Stir the coating evenly before testing and adjust it to the appropriate temperature and viscosity according to the test standard.
• Spreader cardboard should be dried horizontally under standard conditions (e.g. 23 ° C).
• This cardboard is mainly used to evaluate the hiding power. When conducting the levelling sag test, it needs to be matched with special levelling devices, anti-sag devices and other equipment (need to be purchased separately).
• Spreader operation can use tools such as Applicator rods to prepare Film thickness uniform coatings.
