This standard specifies the method for measuring the specular gloss of glazed ceramic and similar reflective surfaces. It is applicable for comparing the gloss of different ceramic products and for evaluating properties such as corrosion resistance and wear resistance by measuring the loss of gloss before and after use or testing. The standard employs a fixed 45° geometric optical condition for measurement. When testing according to this method, a specialized gloss meter (also known as a gloss gauge) must be used. This instrument determines the gloss value by comparing the luminous flux in the specular reflection direction of the sample with that of a standard reference plate, ensuring consistency and comparability of the measurement results.
