Refractory mortars—Part 3: Determination of joint stability

GB/T 22459.3-2021 applies to the determination of the bonding time of refractory mortars, specifying the requirements for sampling, procedures, data calculation, and reporting in the test. The standard clearly stipulates the use of instruments such as a mixer, consistency tester, electronic balance, stopwatch, and special spacer rods. The refractory mortar is first mixed evenly according to the specified water-cement ratio, applied to the surface of standard refractory bricks with controlled coating thickness, and then two refractory bricks are positioned and bonded using spacer rods. After starting the stopwatch, continuous observation is conducted to record the duration from when the bricks can be manipulated to when they can no longer be manipulated. The average of two test results is taken as the bonding time, providing a unified basis for evaluating the applicability of refractory mortar in construction.
