GB/T 9279.2-2015 "Paints and varnishes - Determination of scratch resistance - Part 2: Variable-loading method" is applicable to the determination of the scratch resistance of paints and varnishes, using a test method with continuously variable load. A scratch tester equipped with a conical sapphire or diamond stylus is moved over the coating surface at a speed of 10 mm/s, with the load continuously increased until a scratch appears. The defects are observed using a 100x microscope, and the critical load value is calculated to evaluate the scratch resistance. The tip radius of the stylus, test temperature, and conditioning requirements are specified to ensure the accuracy of the test results.
