GB/T 23986.2-2023 "Paints and varnishes — Determination of volatile organic compound (VOC) and/or semi-volatile organic compound (SVOC) content — Part 2: Gas-chromatographic method" specifies the use of gas chromatography for determining the content of relevant substances. It is applicable to the detection of VOC and/or SVOC content with mass fractions greater than 0.01% and ≤100%. This method is preferred when both components are present in the system simultaneously. For VOC content >15%, ISO 11890-1 should be used for determination, while for VOC content <0.1%, ISO 17895 headspace method may be selected. However, the latter two methods are not applicable for SVOC determination. The method assumes that volatile substances are either water or organic compounds and is not suitable for determining moisture content. The relevant testing procedures and requirements are clearly defined.
