Rubber—Determination of ash—Part 2: Thermogravimetric analysis

This standard specifies the method for determining the ash content in rubber and rubber products using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The core principle involves continuously weighing and recording the mass change of the sample in a specific atmosphere (such as nitrogen or air) under programmed temperature control using a thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA). Based on the characteristic that organic components decompose and volatilize at high temperatures while inorganic residues (ash) remain constant in mass, the ash content is directly calculated by analyzing the thermogravimetric (TG) curve. Compared to the traditional muffle furnace combustion method, this approach offers automated advantages such as reduced sample usage, faster analysis speed, and the ability to simultaneously obtain information about the decomposition process.
