GB/T 2679.17-1997
Corrugated fibreboard--Determination of edgewise crush resistance(Edge reinforced method)

This standard primarily specifies an "edge reinforcement method" specifically designed for determining the edge crush strength of corrugated board. The core of the method lies in the special treatment of the parallel force-bearing edges of rectangular specimens (e.g., impregnation with molten paraffin wax to achieve reinforcement). The specimen is then placed between the two platens of a compression tester, with its flutes perpendicular to the platens, and pressure is applied perpendicular to the flute direction until the specimen collapses. This method is specifically used to evaluate single-wall, double-wall, and triple-wall corrugated board, and can predict the compressive strength of the final carton. The test requires the use of a compliant electronic compression tester (also known as a compression strength tester), which can apply pressure at a constant speed (e.g., 12.5 ± 2.5 mm/min) and accurately record the maximum pressure value.
