Paint Coating Thickness Gauge

Paint coating thickness gauges measure coating thickness through magnetic induction or eddy current principles. The probe contacts the coating surface to generate a magnetic or electromagnetic field, and the thickness value is calculated based on changes in the substrate material. They are used to detect the thickness of non-conductive coatings such as paint and plastic on metal substrates, and to monitor coating quality in automotive and shipbuilding manufacturing.
Selection
When selecting, confirm the substrate type: use the magnetic induction principle for magnetic substrates and the eddy current principle for non-ferrous metals. Consider the coating thickness range, typically choose 0-2000 micrometers. Select the probe based on the workpiece shape; use a small probe for curved surfaces. Check the instrument calibration method; those with substrate calibration functionality are more convenient. For environmental requirements, an IP54 protection rating is sufficient for ordinary workshop use.
