Aluminum Material GlossMeter

The aluminum gloss meter evaluates glossiness by measuring the intensity of light reflected from the surface. It uses a fixed-angle light source to illuminate the sample, and a photodetector receives the reflected light and converts it into a numerical value. It is used for surface quality inspection of aluminum plates, profiles, etc., and for monitoring the effects of processes such as anodizing and spraying.
Selection
When selecting, consider matching the measurement angle with the surface texture of the aluminum. Use 20° for high-gloss flat surfaces, 60° for general-purpose applications, and 85° for low-gloss rough surfaces. Verify that the instrument's range covers the gloss range of the sample and check the calibration plate's certification. Pay attention to the probe's wear-resistant material and temperature compensation function.

Application of Gloss Meter in Gloss Measurement of Varnish Coatings
A gloss meter is used to measure the gloss of varnish coatings by detecting surface-reflected light to quantitatively assess the appearance of the coating. The measurement is based on the principle of specular reflection of light, commonly employing angles such as 20°, 60°, and 85° to correspond to different gloss ranges, and follows standard formulas for calculation.
Glossmeter 75-degree angle measurement for paper gloss
This article introduces the principle and method of measuring paper gloss using a 75-degree specular gloss meter. Gloss is defined as the ratio of the light reflected from the paper surface to that reflected from a standard reference plate, with the 75-degree angle commonly used for measuring medium to high gloss papers.

The use of a gloss meter in evaluating the surface gloss of printing paper and art paper.
Gloss meters quantify paper gloss by measuring surface reflected light, with 20°, 60°, and 85° angles commonly used for high, medium, and low gloss surfaces, respectively. The gloss characteristics of printing paper and art paper differ, so the appropriate measurement angle should be selected based on the estimated gloss level.
Determination of specular gloss: Selection criteria for instruments at different angles (20°/60°/85°)
Specular gloss is a measure of a material's ability to reflect light, calculated by comparing the reflected luminous flux of a sample with that of a standard plate. Three angles—20°, 60°, and 85°—are commonly used for measurement, corresponding to high-gloss, medium-gloss, and low-gloss surfaces, respectively.
