GlossMeter for printed matter

The gloss meter for printed materials quantifies gloss by illuminating the sample surface with a light source at a fixed angle and measuring the intensity of specularly reflected light. It is used to detect the reflective properties of surfaces such as paper, ink, and plastics, providing data support for quality control of printed materials and evaluation of coating effects.
Selection
When selecting, consider that the measurement angle range must match the gloss intensity of the sample. Use a 20° angle for high gloss, 60° for standard gloss, and 85° for low gloss. The instrument must comply with ASTM D523/ISO 2813 standards, with attention to the traceability of calibration plates and the repeatability of the instrument. Choose the measurement aperture based on the flatness of the sample; curved samples require special adapters.

Application of Gloss Meter in Gloss Measurement of Varnish Coatings
A gloss meter is used to measure the gloss of varnish coatings by detecting surface-reflected light to quantitatively assess the appearance of the coating. The measurement is based on the principle of specular reflection of light, commonly employing angles such as 20°, 60°, and 85° to correspond to different gloss ranges, and follows standard formulas for calculation.
Glossmeter 75-degree angle measurement for paper gloss
This article introduces the principle and method of measuring paper gloss using a 75-degree specular gloss meter. Gloss is defined as the ratio of the light reflected from the paper surface to that reflected from a standard reference plate, with the 75-degree angle commonly used for measuring medium to high gloss papers.

The ink rub resistance tester is a device used to evaluate the scratch resistance of ink on printed surfaces. It simulates mechanical actions such as friction and scratching to assess the adhesion strength and durability of the ink, and is widely applied in quality control and research and development in industries such as packaging and labeling.
Haze meter detects haze on high-gloss coating surfaces
Haze is the phenomenon where a high-gloss coating surface causes a blurring of reflected images due to light scattering, which reduces visual clarity. A haze meter quantifies the haze value by measuring the intensity ratio between the specularly reflected light and the scattered light at specific small angles. The lower the value, the clearer the surface.

The use of a gloss meter in evaluating the surface gloss of printing paper and art paper.
Gloss meters quantify paper gloss by measuring surface reflected light, with 20°, 60°, and 85° angles commonly used for high, medium, and low gloss surfaces, respectively.
