pH conductivity Meter

A pH conductivity meter measures the hydrogen ion concentration in a solution using a glass electrode to determine the pH value, while simultaneously detecting the ionic conductivity with a conductivity electrode. It is used to monitor the acidity or alkalinity of water and the ion concentration in solutions, and is applied in the chemical and environmental protection fields to control reaction conditions and wastewater treatment.
Selection
Select electrode materials based on the measured medium, using special glass electrodes for strong acids and strong bases. Ensure the measurement range covers the actual pH 0-14 and conductivity range, with accuracy matching process requirements. Check the temperature compensation function and calibrate regularly with standard buffer solutions. Pay attention to electrode protection and the instrument's protection rating.

When to use three-point calibration versus two-point calibration for pH meters?
The calibration of a pH meter is performed to determine the actual zero potential and slope of the electrode, enabling accurate measurement of the acidity or alkalinity of a solution. Two-point calibration is commonly used for daily measurements within a narrow range, while three-point calibration is employed for higher accuracy requirements.
How does the instrument calculate total dissolved solids in water from conductivity?
This article explains how TDS instruments estimate total dissolved solids by measuring the electrical conductivity of water. Since most dissolved solids exist in ionic form, which affects conductivity, there is a correlation between the two.
