Overview
STM-IV Stormer Viscometer is a SHIBO brand test instrument for the determination of paints and Miscellaneous paint viscosity expressed in KU value. The instrument is controlled by a microcomputer and can directly display the KU value of the tested sample or the associated load value (g). No need to look up a table, easy to operate.
Features
1. Microcomputer control, intelligent operation.
2. Directly read the KU value or load value without looking up the table.
3. Built-in intelligent display stability program, stable reading.
4. External hold (HOLD) switch with data hold and memory functions.
5. Measurement of different units without stopping, by selecting the switch can be switched.
6. Adopt the lever lifting method for easy operation.
Principle
The Impeller blade of the STM-IV Stormer Viscometer is driven by a special constant Rotation speed motor and rotates at a constant speed of 200 rpm. The resistance moment received by the blade when swirling/spinning in the sample is collected and converted by the microcomputer, and displayed as KU value (Krebs unit, i.e. the logarithmic function of the load required to generate 200 rpm Rotation speed) or directly as the load value (g).
Applications
Determination of viscosity of paints and coatings
Standards
GB/T 9269、ASTM D 562
Steps
1. Remove the instrument and place it on the workbench.
2. Install the Impeller blade and fix it on the shaft sleeve with a top-tightening screw. The screw should be on the flat mouth of the blade.
3. Plug in the power supply, turn on the rear power switch, and enter the standby state after the system self-test (display “- - - -”)。
4. Put the well-stirred sample to be tested into the self-contained container, and the liquid level is about 10mm away from the container mouth.
5. Place the container on the container holder and select the Measurement Unit (KU or GM). Press down the lift handle so that the Impeller leaf immerses the sample until the shaft mark is level with the liquid level, and the instrument starts running automatically.
6. After a few seconds, the display displays a stable viscosity value, allowing for readings.
7. At the end of the measurement, lift the lifting handle to the height of the limit, the instrument stops rotating and enters standby.
8. Use the external hold (HOLD) switch to lock the reading or retrieve the previous Measured value.
Notice
• The instrument should be placed on a firm and flat surface away from strong airflow, strong magnetic field, strong electric field, and strong pulse Impact interference.
• Laboratory power sockets should be reliably grounded to ensure safe operation.
• Ambient Temperature in the laboratory should be 23 ° C +/- 2 ° C, and the relative humidity should not exceed 75%.
The sample temperature should be controlled at 23 ° C +/- 0.2 ° C.
• When installing the Impeller blade, pay attention that the top screw should be pushed on the flat mouth of the blade.
• Mix the sample well before measurement.
To re-measure, turn the HOLD switch off (up).
