Overview

The Stormer Viscometer is a test instrument used to determine the viscosity of paints and Miscellaneous coatings expressed in KU value. The instrument is controlled by a computer. The Impeller blade is driven by a constant Rotation speed motor to rotate at a speed of 200rpm. The resistance moment received by the Impeller blade in the tested sample is converted by the computer to the KU value. The operator can directly read the KU value of the sample or the associated load value.

Principle

The instrument is controlled by a computer. The Impeller blade (rotor) rotates at 200rpm driven by a constant Rotation speed motor. The resistance moment of the Impeller blade when swirling/spinning in the sample under test is converted by the computer into a viscosity value expressed in Krebs units (KU). KU value is a logarithmic function of the load required to produce 200rpm Rotation speed.
