Overview

PN-KLM paper water absorption tester is a special instrument under the PNSHAR brand that uses Klemm method to determine the liquid absorption height of unsizing paper and Cardboard capillaries. Principle

The instrument works on the principle of Krem method. Water Absorbency of a paper is evaluated by measuring the capillary absorbency height after a certain time (e.g. 10 min +/- 10 s) of a vertically suspended specimen immersed in water.

Applications

Mainly used for Unsizing Paper and Cardboard such as Black Absorbing Paper and Other Paper with High Water Absorbency.

Steps

Prepare a sample with a size of 250 * 15mm. 2. Hang the specimen vertically so that its lower end is submerged in water. 3. Start Timer (if set to 10min +/- 10s). 4. At the end of the specified time, read the capillary suction height displayed on the ruler.

• This instrument is not suitable for paper and Cardboard with a capillary suction height of less than 5mm within 10min. The thickness of the sample should be less than or equal to 1.5mm. • When operating, ensure that the specimen is suspended vertically and properly immersed in water. • Please select the appropriate suction measurement time according to the product characteristics.
