Overview
Ford viscosity cup (Ford Cup) is a standard test equipment for viscosity measurement of coatings, coatings and similar substances, widely used in quality control and research and development of coatings and coatings industries. This product model is Ford-3 #, with an outflow aperture of 3.40mm, using aluminum alloy cup body and stainless-steelbeaker nozzle, viscosity measurement range is 49-220cst, suitable for viscosity testing of coatings, paints, inks.
Features
Meets multiple American Society for Testing and Materials standards (ASTM D1200, D333, D365).
2. Using aluminum alloy cup body and 304 stainless steel nozzle, sturdy and durable.
3. The outflow aperture is accurate (3.40mm), and the measurement range is clear (49-220cst).
4. Capacity standard, approximately 100ml.
5. Suitable for viscosity testing of coatings, paints, inks and other liquids.
Principle
The Working Principle of the Ford viscosity cup is based on the relationship between the flow rate of the liquid and the viscosity. The structure is a conical cup with a small hole with a fixed aperture at the bottom. During the test, the liquid to be tested is filled with the cup and fixed upside down, and the liquid flows out through the small hole. The viscosity value of the liquid can be evaluated or calculated by accurately measuring the time it takes for the liquid to completely flow out.
Applications
Coatings industry, coatings industry, inks industry, quality control and R & D field
Standards
ASTM D1200、ASTM D333、ASTM D365
Steps
1. Clean and dry the Ford viscosity cup.
2. Fill the Ford viscosity cup with the liquid to be tested.
3. Turn the Ford viscosity cup filled with liquid upside down and fix it on the bracket so that the liquid flows out of the bottom hole.
4. Timer measurement of the time required from the beginning of the flow of the liquid to the first interruption of the streamline.
5. According to the time of outflow, refer to the standard conversion table or formula to calculate the viscosity of the liquid.
Notice
• Before use, please make sure that the Ford viscosity cup and flow hole are clean, drying and free of blockage.
• Test Ambient Temperature should be kept stable as temperature affects liquid viscosity.
• Make sure that the Ford viscosity cup is placed vertically and stably during operation to obtain accurate outflow time.
• After the measurement is completed, the instrument should be cleaned in time to prevent the residue curing from affecting the subsequent measurement accuracy.
• Please select the appropriate Ford viscosity cup model according to the estimated viscosity range of the tested liquid to ensure the validity of the measurement.
