Overview
US RDS #60 Mayer Rods (Applicator rod) is a film tool specially designed for the inks industry. It is suitable for coating bar Moulding of various inks. It is used to determine the hiding power, color, Gloss and other performance of the film and to repair the color. The Applicator rod can have a Spreader thickness of 137.2 microns, an effective application width of 300mm, and a 50mm hand-held part at both ends to ensure uniform force during operation.
Features
1. Adopt wide-wound production process to ensure film accuracy.
2. The wet film thickness is fixed at 137.2μm, providing a consistent Spreader effect.
3. Total length 400mm, application width 300mm, reasonable design.
4. 50mm hand-held parts at both ends, easy to operate under uniform force.
5. Stainless steel, durable and easy to clean.
6. Suitable for flat and easy to bulge substrates (such as paper, foil), preparing uniform film.
Principle
The wire rod coating applicator scrapes inks on the substrate through a wire-wound structure to form a wet-film of the specified thickness. During operation, the user holds both ends and applies uniform force to move the coating applicator. The wire diameter of 1.52mm ensures that inks are accurately scraped to achieve a film thickness of 137.2μm. For subsequent performance testing.
Applications
INKS industry
Steps
1. Prepare flat or easy to bulge substrates (such as paper, foil).
2. Apply the inks evenly to one end of the substrate.
3. Applicator rod 50mm at both ends.
4. Scrape inks along the substrate with uniform force and speed.
5. After Spreader, check film uniformity.
6. Used for hiding power, color, Gloss and other performance measurement or color correction.
Notice
• Make sure to hold the 50mm parts at both ends during operation to keep the force uniform.
• Only applicable to inks industry related film applications.
• Clean in time after use to avoid ink residue affecting accuracy.
• Avoid applying excessive pressure to the coating applicator to prevent deformation.
