Lithium ion battery for electrical energy storage

This standard establishes comprehensive technical specifications covering cells, modules, and battery clusters for lithium-ion batteries used in power energy storage, systematically enhancing core requirements for electrical performance, environmental adaptability, durability, and safety. Compared to the previous version, the standard has significantly tightened key metrics such as energy efficiency (increased from 85% to 90% for cells) and cycle life, while adjusting the cycle test temperature to 45°C to accelerate evaluation. In terms of safety, multiple new tests have been introduced, including overload, vibration, and pressure resistance of liquid cooling pipelines. The thermal runaway trigger method has been modified to a dual simulation of overcurrent and heating, with short-circuit resistance tightened from 5 mΩ to 1 mΩ and crush force increased from 13 kN to 50 kN, aiming to better replicate extreme operating conditions. The testing process requires the use of large-scale battery adiabatic calorimeters to accurately measure adiabatic temperature rise characteristics and thermal runaway behavior. High-low temperature charge-discharge integrated systems, combined with environmental test chambers, are used to verify battery performance under high-temperature conditions at 45°C, low-temperature conditions at 5°C, and low-pressure conditions at high altitudes. Additionally, mechanical abuse testing machines are necessary for crush and nail penetration tests, along with multi-channel temperature measurement systems and gas analyzers to monitor thermal runaway processes. These rigorous testing methods collectively ensure that energy storage batteries meet the urgent demands of power systems for high safety, long lifespan, and strong environmental adaptability in practical applications.
