Inductance Thickness Gauge

The inductance thickness gauge utilizes the eddy current effect to measure the thickness of non-conductive coatings on metal substrates. The probe generates a high-frequency electromagnetic field, which induces eddy currents in the metal substrate. The intensity of these eddy currents varies with the coating thickness. The electrical signal is converted into a thickness value through a calibration curve. It is used to detect the thickness of coatings such as paint, electroplating, and anodizing to ensure coating quality.
Selection
Select the corresponding probe type based on the substrate material: use the magnetic induction principle for ferrous materials and the eddy current principle for non-ferrous materials. Consider that the measurement range should cover the sample thickness, and the resolution should meet accuracy requirements. The probe size must match the shape of the area being measured; choose a small probe for curved surfaces. Check the instrument calibration certificate and temperature stability. Evaluate whether the data storage and transmission functions are suitable for on-site use.
